He performs two kicks, but makes them look like one. It is really hard to see his foot position on the first one because he is very fast, but his hip position signifies a jump spinning round-house with the right leg, followed by a spinning hook kick (aka spinning heel kick) with the left. Obviously both are done before he lands, so he spins about 720 degrees in the air. Pretty impressive.

Besides Taekwondo, Bren learned two of other Korean martial arts, Hapkido & Hwarangdo, so all the weapon skills with sword & pole/stick in this video came from those two types of martial arts.

It has never been about a single or even ANY style of martial art. It is about the will, intention, ideals that strengthen the heart, and the art of dedication. To me that has much more to do with true strength than whether or not someone may have the ability to grapple on the ground.

I dont understand why people don't respect a persons hard work, every time its not about fighting like animals , becoming a martial artist of fosters caliber needs years of devotion & commitment whereas becoming a professional mma fighter also calls for a lot of perseverance, every world class athlete deserves to be respected , people talking trash about such talented athletes are nothing more than trolls ..
@martialartsman627

What I meant was that modern taekwondo is not good at close range because of the limitations of the sparring. Real Taekwondo has a very intricate hand striking system and it is highly effective. The problem is that most practitioners these days only focus on the kicks and completely ignore the hand strikes because only punches to the body are allowed in most TKD sparring matches.

Oh I entirely understand but what I was saying is that that kind of training (ie competition training) can build tunnel vision which traditional or non-competition training often does not and it can take a greater degree of concious effort for a competition fighter to overcome this. On the whole, I think we've just managed something very impressive, we've reached a mutual decision in the KZitem comments section, that's gotta be a first or something

I think it is a silly argument to be frank, but there is a big difference between WTF and ITF approach to the martial art. There is an entirely different mindset involved, and the reflexes trained in both streams have some major differences. WTF prepares its students for sports competitions and their entire sparing and training system is designed for that. ITF prepare its students as real life fighters (at least that's what they are supposed to do), the result is 2 different types of TKD.

Hapkido also uses various kicks and sweeps (like most Korean styles), but using them sepparately defeats the purpose of using each martial art's best aspect. The best martial artist is one who can flawlessly combine many styles (of course he has to be good at those styles too). Combining the kicking arsenals of both TKD and Hapkido, the low attacks and joint locks of Hapkido, and both hand strike arsenals would aslo result in another deadly fighting style.
