I never knew of the caliber of this degree was available until I watched the video on Finish Carpentry T.V. This is AMAZING. Thank you for creating these educational, well narrated videos for us. It is truly appreciated.

Quirky, and cozy and comfy. You do nice, deep porches. Sometimes, a shallow porch is canonical, but I usually prefer a deep one.

I've spent a lot of time in Pennsylvania and Maryland and Virginia and parts of this house are old east coast farm house to a T. Things I don't see in builds when visiting Texas family. The only thing that would probably look more authentic would be in that closed in window, it would not likely be matching stone. It would be a rectangle of brick or even just wood siding. Brick maybe painted stone color. Man, what a cool project. Love it.

Thanks again for such a great video. We have relatives in Nebraska that have a wood framed farm house with a wood porch. I'm guessing the working farm is 120 years old. The home probably 105 plus ? Nobody's ever done the actual research.......on the property. There's nothing like the beauty of a farm house kitchen.. BTW the windows are original. They have a wood screen door they are restoring. What a great video of yours. Thanks so much. God bless 🙏

If you really want to convince people that they are in an older part of the house, put in a couple of floors that are out of level, and a couple of doors that won't close tight or latch because the wall the door is in settled. 8^)

Fabulous details, as always, but - I grew up in Chester County, PA, and those stones on the exterior are a bit too flat to look old. Was that to cut cost or are those older kinds of stones no longer available? I love your content and your enthusiasm! Also love your love of books.

Thanks for the feedback, that's an interesting comment. Our main goal was color of the stone, the stones are not salvaged or from an historic building, that may be what you are seeing. I'm going to look with a closer eye next time I'm out there. Thanks for watching and commenting. B

If the original owner of the stone house had money, the front of the home would be cut stone. Offset rectangles kind of like Legos. And the other three sides would be rubble.

@@BrentHull I noticed the same thing, the flatness make them look a bit like fascia decorative stone or something. I think it would have looked off even if you used salvaged stone, it's the way they're set? Actually I just clicked on this video randomly, so my first thought was this building was some sort of 60's suburban ranch house or something before I realized what this channel is about. It still looks very nice don't get me wrong. It also seems like the windows should be deeper set into the stone... maybe that would be a way to fix it, so the eye can 'see' the stone's depth. I could be wrong about all of this btw, maybe we're just not used to seeing new clean stone without assuming it's fascia lol.

I like that cabinet soft close. I like how tucked away you've designed it. Which brands do you like for that? When I see that hardware it's sold as a the "cheaper alternative" to soft close hinges and it seems like flimsy junk. Matt would have lined those guys up as a program sponsor. #MissedOpportunity :P Love your work!

Where did you source the soft close catch and magnets for the cabinets?
@BrentHull

Magnets are rare earth, 3/8ths by 3/8ths round magnets drilled into door and shelf. Soft close are soft close piston, Blum makes some as do others. Thanks.

Those dutch doors are great until your drunken wife keeps falling through and landing on her face. That's the real downfall of dutch doors, in my humble opinion.

True... of course it will help to keep the cows and goats out of the house.
