Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite. It’s a 1000 watt juicer with 2 speed controls for juicing hard and soft produce.
LINK TO the Breville 800JEXL: amzn.to/1w9eB8X . The low speed of the Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite at 6500 RPM is for soft produce and high speed of 13,000 RPM for hard produce. There’s a red off button and a toggle switch for low or high speed.
It measures almost 17 inches tall and 16inches wide with the pitcher. It will take up some counter space since it is a large machine. The housing is die cast steel. The juicer comes with a stainless-steel micro-mesh filter, titanium plated cutting disk, juicing pitcher which holds 34 ounces and has a froth separator, large pulp container with integrated handle, cleaning brush and an instruction book with recipes. All the parts that come in contact with food are BPA free. There is cord storage at the bottom of the base. Even the plug is designed well because you can put your finger in it for ease of use. Breville calls it an assist plug.
I like the locking arm feature because there is no guessing, you know the unit is locked and ready to juice. The juicer will not turn on if the cover is not locked in place The feed tube is round and 3 inches in diameter. It should fit some fruits and vegetables whole. That saves you time by not having to cut up produce. The chute is inches tall so you can easily drop in long ingredients like carrots, cucumbers and celery. If the machine senses that it is overloaded, it will automatically shut down to prevent over-heating. The filter basket/disc and food pusher should be hand washed. Other parts can be put on the top rack of your dishwasher.
I’ll juice apples, carrots, oranges and kale to see how the Breville performs. First I’ll juice 3 medium apples. I’ve cut them in half to fit in the chute. After plugging in the unit, choose high or low speed to start the machine. Drop in the apples one by one and push down gently with the food pusher. That was really quick - 45 seconds. You saw there was no spraying of juice because the spout fits right into the pitcher and the cover is on.
Juice is very clear. I’ll taste it. It’s pure apple goodness. There’s no pulp in there. The pulp is dry which is a good sign that most of the juice was extracted.
Next, I’ll juice carrots. These are big carrots and they’ll fit in the chute with no issues. The three carrots juiced quickly. There is no pulp in the juice.
The four oranges I juiced yielded 15 ounces which is a really good amount of juice.
I’ll roll up the kale as best as I can and try to fill most of the chute. Then push down gently with the food pusher. I’ll juice the apple. If you’re using baby greens, fill the chute with the greens and then push down gently. If you throw in a few at a time and push, you’ll get very little juice. Doesn’t clog like some of the other machines I’ve reviewed. Leaves can be stringy, but there was no clogging up the machine. The Breville just tore through the greens.
This makes really good compost or you can put it into your baked goods or soup.
Make sure you clean the juicer right after you finish juicing, especially the mesh filter. Use the brush to clean it thoroughly otherwise there will be food build up over time which can make juicing less efficient.
As for the noise, yes it’s a loud machine. It’s a centrifugal juicer and they will be loud. Masticating juicers are quieter.
I like the design of this Breville. It’s simple, elegant and looks gorgeous on your countertop. Everything just fits together well without any effort. It also juices very fast and yields a good amount of juice. It looks and feels like a solid machine.
