One of my favourite's this and ArcadeMade. I think the Higher Strength Brewdog beers are better quality than the lower abv ones.

I chuck a can of this in the trolley now and again. Fantastic beer. You are spot on about the brewdoggy taste in all the others. Definitely using the same base recipe on all the new crap.

Had one recently and blew my head I think I’ll stick to my 3-5% beers from now on ,I’d love to see you brew your own beer at home Simon would be a good series , maybe in a Pinter

Bought loads of this back in the day, it was tescos extra special double ipa at £2 for 330ml bottle I think, then it got changed to Hardcore IPA and now it's called Mr President. This and Jack Hammer were always in my fridge 👌

It was a purple label on the bottle I think, always been on the shelves since I started drinking craft beer but never bought one until now

@@MattyHalsall iv dismissed Brewdog for a while, hazy Jane is a decent fridge filler but I feel there are better alternatives and I will drink Punk on draught in pubs when it’s the only IPA choice on pump

Gonna have to try this. Definitely gone off the generic Brewdog stuff and I’m going back to the UK traditional styles and strong Belgium lagers. But I’ll give this a go.

I remember the Tesco version think it was a Tesco Finest beer. It was really good but then it vanished and came back as this. Then it didn't taste the same it was less punchy and less spiky / hoppy. Like the comparison between the original Punk IPA and the version that is sold now which is nothing like the original.

The way you looked at the camera after the first sip made me laugh! :) I was expecting another Brewdog rant I've always been turned off this beer by the packaging. I know to not judge a book by its cover but it always reminded me of cheap American styled cupcakes in the "American aisle" in the supermarket. Will have to try it now

My go to strong beer when it was in the 330 bottle, good to hear it’s not changed, I’ve actually got a can in the fridge but thinking 440 might be a bit much for a ‘school night’!

At this stage of Brewdog's life, this is my favourite expression of theirs. I tend to restrict myself to this and Arcade Mode. They have no other lines that interest me,.

I gave the bottled version of this a 4 on Untapped back in 2020. Curious to see how it is from the can now! I do like stronger beers...

I used to drink a couple of these, bottled, several years ago, after a night shift. I never particularly rated the drink (6/10 for me) but, boy, would I sleep well after downing those two bottles!

Somewhere in my befuddled brain I remember paying £2.20 for a bottle of this.....thank you for reassuring me I wasn't going crazy!

Yep, Tesco used to sell 330ml bottles for £2.20 each (I seem to recall £2.10 where I live) OR four for the price of three! Absolute bargain and I don't think the recipe has changed at all over the years. Big fan of Mr. President 👍

Here in the UK, i first had this years ago when all Brewdogs were in the bottles.... I remember this had a purple label, and i read the label, the description, sounded right up my street. I purchased 6 bottles. Took them home, refrigerated them.... around 1900, i cracked them open. I remember the flavour being so different (back then) and they went down a treat. I did start too wonder though, why after just a couple, i felt pretty merry.... Then i looked at the strength and these things blow your tits off, much like their Arcade Made.

Still a great beer, though I sorely miss the days of the Tesco Finest American Double IPA (BrewDog Hardcore IPA essentially) - £1.89 for a massively hoppy, bitter, piney American style IPA.

I still like this beer. I buy at least 2 cans a week. Did this not stem from Brewdogs Hardcore IPA.
@borosmurf

Yes, it was just a rebrand of Hardcore IPA previously also labelled as part of the Tesco Finest range before renaming as Mr President. Hardcore being one Brewdogs original core range when they first started out

Got one tonight, spoke to a mate afterwards who said it was a drain pour and saw a couple of other reviews who both didn’t rate it. I think it’s decent, strong APA that’s better as it goes on when you get used to the bitterness. Probably won’t rush out to buy more but will deffo buy again

I don't get the "hate" BD gets. Sure they have made some shite beers but the sheer number of different beers they release means some must be dogs. But on the whole, they make some beers I like, some I dislike and some I love. They are still better than most of the macro out there. Plus I love visiting the Doghouse and pubs around the world.

With it not tasting like a Brewdog beer I wonder if it’s brewed at one of their other breweries and not in Ellon. This is what annoys me with Brewdog, they can still make great beer, they just choose to pump out a lot of trash.

BrewDog and Northern Monk are similar in this regard... they both do great beers... but they also have some awful ones which tend to be highly marketed and pushed front and centre.

I tried their other strong beer the Triple hazy one wasn't keen on that one. This Brewdog beer being darker and having more body looks like it might be better will give it a try. The strong beers can be good when done right like Fullers Golden pride that's one I love and avoid at the same time because once I drink one the night is pretty much over lol
