Pulling through on a beer keg is a heck of a lot tougher than with a pot. I went with a 35mm hole and stretched to fit. (inner diameter of the ferrule). I will probably go 37mm next time around. Make sure you are using real wrenches (not adjustable) to tighten (adjustable will slip and round the nut) and you will likely need an extender bar if you aren't young and strong. I used the stainless pipe from inside the keg to give me the added leverage. Another hint. You can get long 1.5" ferrules. This gives you lots of meat both on the inside and outside.

Just heard about this tool some 3 days ago. Purchased the 2" model within 5 min of video's end (and it's already here, which is amazing in itself!). And man, I gotta say, the quality looks superb. I'll be using this for sight glasses, fill ports and heating element locations from here on out. I'm well and truly grateful to you guys! (BTW - any chance you could come out with a 3" and 4" model as well? Even if custom, I'd be willing to hear you out on prices...)

I have a few questions with this. I just ordered the 1.5" tool as all I plan on adding are tri clover fittings. I actually have quite a few to add to various parts of my brewhouse. On a kettle, it will be sanitary especially with boiling. On the other side of the brewhouse is where I'd like to add a few on my unitanks for a carb stone port. What kind of pressure can these silver brazed joints hold? I usually carb at 15-16psi via a stone. Will the hold say up to 20psi like a tight welded joint can? Also, will these be sanitary enough for a conical fermenter? Thanks in advance.

My 1144 Bayou classic ruptured at bottom seam. Worked well on another pot, but not this one. 😶

In about 100 jobs so far, I've had one cheaper pot tear at the bottom weld seam on me. I was able to get it soldered up and sealed but now I'm careful to move away from the seam when possible and sometimes make the hole a little larger to reduce the flaring.

these fittings are so expensive in Canada that it is cheaper to pay tig welder to weld the ferrule on
@brewhardware

I'd love to see the finished job after you get the welding done. 19 out of 20 welders are out of their depth when you bring a pot and TC ferrule in. Some of the results I've seen make it look like the so called professional welder was on the first day of the job.

This is an old comment that I never saw but I just have to ask. Do you think that I just buy commodity items from China? When I say I developed it, I drew it in CAD and prototyped it, tested it on multiple kettles and then had my partner factory in China mass produce it so that I can sell it for a price American consumers are willing to pay. So yeah, I developed it. What exactly was your point?
