Lovely models Stormy. I am beginning to understand model horse showing more and wish there were more events over here in the UK. I have some models that I think are very attractive and I wouldn't mind putting them in some classes. I have my own (usually quite contrary to Breyers models) ideas about conformation and which model looks like which breed and I wouldn't mind challenging myself in this way. I have a couple of models that I have customised which look way more like Highland ponies than the Breyer/Haflinger/Highland does. It looks like a Native British pony probably more Exmoor than anything else. I repainted it to make it more mouse dun and it still doesn't resemble any Highland I have known (and believe me I have known, and showed in hand some of the Scottish Champions of the breed). I think it's due for a new look and I will do the classic Exmoor colouration with the 'mealy' muzzle and points and I am sure it would win more in a Native pony class as an Exmoor than a Highland. I love your fantasy McKaw/horse...It's stunning!

How are your models less good than anyone else's? They are made in a production line.

How do they judge the models? Like what are the judges making their placings off of.

I don't understand this. If there is only one custom class, what are you showing? Presumably Breyer makes these horses and unless you are competing with a custom model or in a custom tack class, they are all the same? Or does Breyer make some good copies, some bad and some mediocre? I can't get my head around this as I have only ever shown real horses and competed in 3 day eventing on a real horse? I mean well done because I know that custom tack and horses are really competitive so you must have really great models. The ones you pictured are gorgeous but I just can't see what they base their decisions on? You should do a video Stormy (lovely name btw and it's also the name of one of my two custom 1:6th horses, named after an amazing skewbald trotter I used to know when I was young.) Yeah do a video for old folks like me who have just started customising model horses because they fit in the action figure dioramas I am putting together. You should explain all about the classes in these shows so I can get my ancient head around it.

What are the white tags on the Breyer Horses’ back hooves for? What goes on them? And, what are the Numbers on the tags?
@StormyStrikeVideos

It depends on the specific show rules, but almost all model horse shows require a tag or an index card (depending on the show rules) that give the model's breed, gender, name, and the show holders name. For this particular BreyerWest show, each entrant had a specific entrant number pre-assigned to them to put on the tag. Most non-Breyer shows don't have this and instead you usually just put your name on the back of the tag or index card. Hope that helps! Hopefully I can put out some videos next year that go over more details about model horse showing :)

I'm confused how this works? They're figurines, yes? So how do the judges pick winners?
@StormyStrikeVideos

It's basically like a miniature version of a show show, but with model horses! It depends on the division, but for Halter divisions, the judges pick the models that best represent the breed their assigned and the models ABCs (anatomy, biomechanics, breed standard, color, and condition.) For Custom/Artist Resin divisions, the same applies but can also include the factor of workmanship (how well the model is painted by the artist, making it more like an art contest.) Collectability divisions are based on how rare and desirable the model is (i.e. extremely limited runs, HTF vintage models in good condition, etc.) Lastly is Performance division, which is basically setting up scenes with a model to mimic real life horse showing, being judged on correct placement of tack on the model, rider position, scene/discipline it's depicting, etc.

If I what’d to do showing could I use someone else’s Etsy tack that I bought
@StormyStrikeVideos

Generally, yes you can live show using tack made by others :) The only exception might be certain Novice shows (for example I believe at the BreyerFest Youth/Children show you can only use Breyer tack or tack you made yourself) but unless a show's rules says otherwise, you can use tack you bought from someone else :)
