The Vic Firth SD2 Bolero is made of maple instead of hickory so it is lighter than one would expect from such a thick stick. I guess that is a factor that also contributes a bit to Brian's sound.

This was my stick choice for many years purely because it draws the coolest low tones out of the ride. While it’s my favorite sounding stick, overall my favorite go-to’s are the AJ1’s, long taper, standard length, and not as thick. Great job on the cymbal! I wish I could sample it myself!

Definitely. I've already done about 5 ride commissions modelled on this exact one. I’ve got a cymbal commission form (as well as one for hats and crashes) on the website. It has a bunch of info regarding the process and what to expect. reveriedrums.com/shop/p/ride-cymbal-commission On this form you can pick from one of my cymbal series (Landmark, Prism, Tributary, Foundation, Labyrinth, or “custom tailored”) and designate the size you want.

Sounds fantastic. I really like how your cymbals really transcend categories of ride or crash. All the ones I've heard in your videos function equally as both and produce many sounds depending on technique, intensity, etc., which really speaks to the styles of Brian Blade or Bill Stewart-two of my favorite contemporary drummers. 👍🤘

First to say : this is a great cymbal. But please note : Roberto Spizzichino himself did not recognized the sound of the Brian ones he made , and he was very surprised about that once seen Brian play that . I own 3 spizzs cymbals and no one and any around in my knowlege sounds like the brian ones . This is a mistery . Yours is very similar to brian ones but the " sound " we all love most is his RIGHT ones and at the moment no ones sound similar , despite i purchssed some cymbals made expecially from famous cymbals makers promised similar but no way at all . So my question is : what can you do about the right ones ? 😎
@ReverieDrumCo
6 ай бұрын
Yep, I've heard that story. Roberto spoke about making a cymbal and then needing to analyze what he just did to try to figure it out. I have that experience often. There's a flow state you get into and then need to look back at the completed cymbal to ask "how the heck did I do that?". I'm currently analyzing a cymbal I made 3 yrs ago to try to figure out what I did. It's fun. As for the right Blade cymbals, I make those often too (both modelled after his 24" A and his 24" Spizz). They are a blast to make. Any of my 24" Landmark rides will be in some way or another aimed at that sound.

Sounds really great, almost the brian blade sound. For the money I would say that you're giving more than someone's money worth because it would cost thousands or a bunch of searching, luck, and good deals. The difference in cost and energy to acquire an exact brain blade sound is much further than the sound difference that you're offering. Again your sound is close enough.

Ironically, those are same sticks I have been using for a few years, thanks for your take on their relationship to the cymbals! ...thicker, but lighter stick,nice bead. Your 22" riveted ride is absolutely BEAUTIFUL... the cymbal seems to have more definition from behind then in front of the kit...still fantastic! I would be interested in this cymbal product. Saw your video from LA, Pro Drum. Is this an item I might order from Stan? . . . loving your channel. Paul- Tucson ...

Great video Tim as always. I totally agree with your taste, especially with this particular cymbal. It sounds perfect from both sides of the kit. Do you have any patina videos? I've been trying to find out how to get a cymbal looking like a fr3ckled earthy meinl Byzance. I found a brass black solution on Amazon, and I got an interesting mottled effect on my mega bell, but not as much contrast as I'd hoped, but still, I'm not disappointed.

Amazing cymbal. I could listen to an analysis of cymbals all day. One thing that I've noticed about Blade's choice of rides is that they all seem to have this dry attack with a complex (but clear) wash, and they're pretty high pitched. It's not trashy, it's clear, but I'm thinking they're rather on the heavier side. Sometimes in recordings they come across as super thin, especially because he crashes so easily but there's a video of Chick Corea playing Blade's kit during a soundcheck and you get to hear what they sound like BEHIND the kit and his rides come across as med, almost bordering on the heavy side. I have a 22" Landmark from you with 3 rivets that's on the med side and it's really dead on to what I'm hearing from Blade. The original 30th anniversary's came close but were too clear, then the newer ones are too trashy, where yours have that complexity but it's also clear. You've nailed it with this series.
