I was lucky enough to sit in just the right spot during a show and Brian did a Tano right in front of me. You have to be sitting at floor level and up close to realize just how amazing it is. TV cameras really can't capture the suspension in the air required to pull it off --it's almost like Brian's grabbing something in midair, holding onto it, and spinning the three rotations before letting go and landing. To this day it's still one of the most amazing athletic maneuvers I've ever seen.

Brian Boitano will cry if he saw the kind of tanos the young skaters are doing these days. Tano? More like helicopters.

I imagine being a tall man, Brian’s “Tano Triple” was probably more difficult than the tiny skaters with both arms over the heads, simply bcz such moves throw off your center of gravity. Petite skaters already have a lower center of gravity, making Brian’s move that more impressive.

Or as I used to call these moves when I'd watch him as a little kid, the 'snorkel jump' (because his arm up reminded me of a snorkel) & the 'glide' (spread eagle). Brian would come on, & I'd say 'he's the one that does lots of glides and snorkel jumps', lol 😂

Perfect lutz and perfect tano position...👏👏 thank you for letting me to see this. Ps : im hoping these skaters nowdays with tano technique will do right lutz jump and have to seem more effortless. 😔

Quality. I will say to the credit of a lot of skaters - Brian raises his left arm which is actually harder because you need to stay over your right side. If you raise your right arm you get the extra height of driving up with your arm but the weight is further to the right. But yes you also get the helicopter effect more easily.

See? Arm extended no elbow bending. It's not a freaking helicopter.

soulcornflake1, thank you for your comment. I didn't realize what it involved although I knew it was hard. Apparently very few people can pull it off. I saw Brian Orser do it once but it wasn't near as good as Boitanos.

As impressive as this is to me, his signature move is the jump spin ending in a death drop. I also like the spread eagle moves here. Hanyu, the skater does something like them.
