In this guitar lesson, we are breaking down the first (in perhaps a series) of Brian May's greatest riffs. This time it's how to play Hammer To Fall.
The man himself, Brian May, has been posting playthroughs and mini-lessons on his Instagram feed and KZitem channel and I saw him playing this riff and remembered what a great riff it was to analyse.
As we saw in my last lesson on Under Pressure, Brian May is clearly a big fan of triad shapes and the Hammer To Fall riff is using triad shapes over an open A string pedal note.
