Brian May, born July 19, 1947, is a renowned English musician, songwriter, singer, astrophysicist, and animal rights advocate. He gained global fame as Queen's lead guitarist, co-founding the band with Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor. May's guitar prowess and songwriting elevated Queen to legendary status. He played in the blues rock band Smile with Taylor before forming Queen in 1970. Known for hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody," Queen became rock giants, including a notable Live Aid show. May's signature sound came from his custom Red Special guitar. He wrote hits like "We Will Rock You" and "The Show Must Go On."
