I sure am. Brian has always been an innovator. He innovated countless times! (Good Vibrations, Cabinessence, Surf's Up to name a few) so I have no problem with him trying to innovate once again using synthesizers and elements and EDM. Heck, he's been using Synthesizes since the 70's! (The Beach Boys Love You!) and for an old man, his voice is great!!!!!!!!

It's a dreadful irony that so many techniques were employed to inspire Brian to come up with something innovative and creative during the 70s and 80s to prevent the Beach Boys becoming a traveling jukebox. Now he's back on form, the Beach Boys are indeed a traveling jukebox. Oh well, at least he's doing his own thing so brilliantly.

I really don't understand the negative comments here. BW has introduced so many instruments to rock & roll over the years, and influenced countless artists in so many genres. His attention to detail in the studio (and on stage) has been well-documented, as has his health. He has used the technology of the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 21st century to give us some of the very best music of all times. If he wants to use a synth, or Auto-Tune, or teleprompter, or anything else, that's his choice. I could not care less how much he chooses to play the piano on stage. HE'S THE ARTIST. This is one of HIS new songs on HIS new album being played at HIS concert in a presentation of HIS choosing. I am so thankful the negative commenters weren't in HIS studio when HE brought in the bass harmonica, cello, harpsichord, theramin, water bottles, etc., etc., etc., back in the day. And I am equally thankful they were not in HIS studio last year as HE recorded No Pier Pressure. How uncanny HIS choice of titles for this latest project. Hmmm...

Melinda's choosing, don't you mean? I thought she was the one pushing for aggressive use of Antares Auto-Tune in Wilson's live performances. Either way, BW and the Beach Boys have a long history of dabbling superficially in styles and gimmicks perhaps better left alone. One expects to wade through a sea of garbage to get to the good stuff, and many would argue that it's part of the Beach Boys' charm. Wilson and his handlers continue that tradition. Sometimes they strike gold. For every fifty-or-so "Runaway Dancers," one finds an "All I Wanna Do."

I know what you're saying, I'm 41 and wondered if it was just me getting old that I thought music these days was garbage. Ironically enough, Beach boys were a boy band in their day. However boy band in those days meant a group that could sing and play instruments but was assembled by a producer. In the 2020s we've got a whole new level of fake. Where people part with £700 to see a geriatric Madonna mime for 90mins.

It's brilliant! Because Brian Wilson has been able to keep that unique Beach Boys sound, rhythm and harmony in this song, ( A little Kenny G, too with the sax!), and it's still as fresh and current today, as it would be if it was created back in the '60's or 70's!

That Brian Wilson can creatively concoct a very different (and very engrossing) "sound" from days gone by is proof positive that the man is some kind of musical "genius" (pace Leonard Bernstein). There is total creative unity between all of the new-ish sounding songs on "No Pier [Peer] Pressure." This time out, he could easily have gotten away with same-old, same-old, but no way. Can't wait to see (and hear) what he'll be up to next time.
