Great Video! I just got back from Mammoth. We hit up Bridgeport for the first time. Its a huge lake...lol. We had a lot bites, lost a few 😥. I caught a nice 3lb rainbow on a night crawler, after throwing everything in my tackle box. We had a great time, definitely going back.

Thanks for watching! Glad you guys found some fish. We actually just got back from mammoth a few days ago. we had a pretty good day at Bridgeport reservoir. I'm working on that video as we speak. This last trip was probably our last for this season but we will most likely head back out there during the opener next year. tight lines!

Orange flesh trout for the win! Some folks prefer the taste of the stockers... in fact someone in my family traded his orange fleshies for my stockers. I was like well .. ok. lol Go to seasoning .. lawry's season salt, lemon and butter. Fish fry try crushed cheez-its. It's good.

Let me tell you here, on a different video, that the best way to access the bigger fish at that Stanislaus River place we were talking about is by walking upstream of that huge boulder. You have to then duck your head and pole through the branches and quietly “sneak up on the fish,” dropping your line softly off that boulder (one split shot will do if the water is low in August, two if the water is high and fast in the spring) about one-third the way down along that boulder. That’s where the big fish are. But please don’t tell anyone else about this tip. Again, thanks for all your tips to us about so many great places to fish for trout-and also showing that we should not give up on finding a significant other who likes to go trout fishing with her guy!

Thanks Gregory! I may know where you are referring too. I'll keep it to myself. I appreciate you sharing some information with me. I deleted the other comment where you first mentioned it, to keep it out of the public eye. I'm hoping i will be able to make it out there again towards the end of the year possibly. Do you have any plans of making a trip to mammoth?

@@ExploreNaturesCatch Totally as I really miss Mammoth. Harder to make that drive from San Jose at my age (74) but if I can find someone to make that drive with me, it would be fun to fish all those old haunts-Twin Lakes (where I once saw a 36-40 inch rainbow swimming by casually), Mary where the water comes in, Twin lakes where the water comes in. Also at the June Lake Loop-Rush Creek, Gull by the reeds, June at the same place that you fished, Silver Lake, and Grant at the Narrows and also at the flume. Wow, really miss all that! So yeah, will look for a way to make that trip.

@ExploreNaturesCatch

Thanks for watching Tyler. For our bait rods it’s a 3-4lb fluoro coated line (p-line floroclear). Cheaper than the pure fluorocarbon but gets the job done so far. When I jig fish I’m running 5lb phenix braid with about 7 ft of pure 4lb fluoro (p-line pure fluorocarbon). Tight lines! 🎣

I think the massive fish-and I do mean in the 4-12 pound range-eat all the pan-sized fish for lunch. Thus, either you get a monster or nothing. Yup, for me it has been nothing too.

As for bait fishing you can’t go wrong with pink or orange mice tails and chartreuse/salmon peach power bait. Make sure to add a scent like garlic on the baits. For lures I like to use mini jigs, minnow, and gold kastmasters. Good luck!

The small trout are just little stinkers tasting like cardboard. I like the bigger ones butterflied, cooked on the grill with mesquite mixed charcoal after 6 hours of salt, pepper and brown sugar marinade. Cook/smoke low heat to your own level of dryness. It's good! You guys make very enjoyable videos so keep it up.

Nice fish! Pink meat, in the 2-3lb range is the best eating, although with the dismal stocking lately this year, I do much more catch & release. One request: when you list your rig setup at each fish catch, can you also list the leader length used? Thanks!
