How translating the benefits of sustainable transformation into financial terms can be part of the solution. The “knowledge - action gap” is a key challenge in face of today’s environmental crises. How to bridge the gap between A) knowing about the environmental crises and B) transforming our societal systems accordingly. This talk will address how the act of “translation” can be a powerful part of the solution: translating what the global environmental crisis means for the specific context of an organization. In the private sector, this requires speaking the language of finance, of revenue and costs. The talk will discuss how the case for sustainable transformation can become more compelling for a business when translating the implications in financial terms. How corporate action can be further incentivized, when highlighting the ancillary sources of value inherent to such a transformation. And the power of translation does not end here. The talk will conclude by introducing a range of other contexts, where translation can serve as a tool to incentivize change.
