A real pick me up anytime. My name is Bonne Jeanne, named after the play, born months after it opened on Broadway in 1947. My parents were named Charles and Jean, like the two main characters in the play. The movie came out in 1954, which we are watching here.

This is the film I first saw as a youth in the 50's and it filled my imagination through current age. It was the single biggest factor in taking a party of 6 to the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, Scotland, in 2014. Scotland is magical especially in the evenings as my old man imagination is triggered in search of my own personal Brigadoon.

Would you believe I lost a Star Trek Trivia question when I asked "What musical was the episode 'Meridian' based on?" Meridian was a planet that disappeared into an alternate dimension every 1000 years and Dax's loss of her lover was almost exactly like this movie. But at the time, I couldn't prove that the episode was actually based on Brigadoon. Like it was just a coincidence.

Brigadoon Deep within the highland mist The echo’s of a magical tune A Scottish lilt called Brigadoon. Once a century it calls your name The village from the mystic past Enchantment blessed, heaven sent True love for ever that always lasts. Just one chance you are gifted to see Brigadoon the village of eternity Partake of goodness for ever more As you cross over the bridge of Doon. Shrouds of mist will cover your tracts Brigadoon has captured your heart Love and kindness, all heavens gifts For the world you left Will not be missed.

On the late freight with this reply but... I was so stunned to read that Eddie Quillan was in this movie when I saw the credits at the end. When it was on TCM recently (had missed the beginning). I'm like "Where was in the film?" and it occured to me just now that the only musical number I had missed was "Bonnie Jean". But even still it took me a minute to realize that the man in the grey jerkin and kilt DANCING the lead with the company was the man himself. I had no idea he was so accomplished an entertainer. Not to mention the fact that he was 47 years old at the time.

That guy with the short red beard dancing along to the song. I almost think he looks like a life sized leprechaun, which actually works well with the fact that Brigadoon is an enchanted place. But who is he? Since he's seen carrying a keg in the opening scene, I wonder if it's John Rosser, who IMDb lists as playing the "ale man" in the movie. I'm not certain of anything, but it's all I have to go on at the moment. Anyone have an opinion?
