Conor Oberst (the vocalist for Bright Eyes) is a brilliant lyricist. I don't think I've seen anyone react to this. Props to you for branching out and keeping your mind open to all types of music. Much love.

Nobody ever reacts to Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst or Modest Mouse or Andrew Bird or Jose Gonzalez.. and in my opinion its an indictment on the music scene today. Nobody gives a shit about lyricism and songwriting anymore. That goes from rock to rap to metal to indie to country... Sad state of affairs. Everything now is overproduced and over-hyped. If you don't have a Twitter following you're basically irrelevant. And that's just facts.

God this song makes me go way past ugly crying. Like a mess on the floor with a puddle of tears and way to much snot. This song saved me. It saved me so many times.

Great reaction! Bright Eyes is great at writing beautiful songs about love, but they also have plenty songs about unhealthy relationships that can be devoid of love that are strangely enough equally as beautiful. "Make War" is a great example of this, and is one of my favorite songs by them, check it out!

I guess it's meant to be a love song, but every time I hear it, I think of my mother who struggled with alcohol addiction, and we grew apart in my adult life. The 2nd verse I kinda hear as, "what if she sobered up, drove all night to meet me and wanted to 'come home', give a chance to having a renewed relationship"

Damn. For me it's the day my son was born. Still makes me sad though, don't know why. I remember the day he was born and the nurses recommended skin-to-skin contact. So I took my shirt off and layed on the little couch in the hospital room, with him on my chest. I remember his arms reached as far as they could around me, and his little hands gripped the skin on the sides of my ribs. It was his first hug. And I knew I had never been loved or needed so much by another person in my life. I never felt that before..

Bright Has a lot of music. You should listen to some of his earlier angsty-er stuff like, Letting Off The Happiness. It’s at times very dark, but beautiful, and lush
