Those signals have withstood the test of time for 50 years. Pretty incredible demonstration of railroad infrastructure’s resilience.

As we approach the end of the Orlando project, I would like to thank you for everything you do. I live across the country in the Pacific Northwest, yet I have been able to follow this fantastic project thanks to you. I look forward to your next project.

Sad to see these signals go since I grew up watching FEC trains. But I also like the upgrades and modernity.

And yet so much work that is still involved in getting the tracks ready for service. I never realized how much work was actually involved. Thinking back when all of the track laying work was done by hand without the use of all the new technology. Thank you for covering all this work and all the updates! And how cool would it be to have one of those signal spheres as a souvenir of an era gone by!

Great video as always. Speaking of signals, can you touch on statement (could be a rumor) that the crossings gates are possibly being upgraded with sensors that detect if there are obstacles?
@RoamingRailfan
Жыл бұрын
Yes, I believe every crossing where speeds will be 110 are having vehicle presence detectors, which are a kind of radar, installed that will be linked to the signal system. There are typically 2 per crossing mounted on dedicated poles.

Many times the updates from "The Roaming Railfan" seem to come just as quick as Google updates. Currently it is difficult to get any videos of Brightline doing 110 M.P.H. through Melbourne. Hopefully, you can get videos of these.

I was in Cocoa Beach last weekend and hoped to see a Brightline cruise by even if it was a test run. But I did not any activity. I would like one of those Search Light signals but too bad I am over here in Tampa.

I knew is was bullshit when someone told a signal fan that they were saving them for “parts” only to scrap them. The only siding left with searchlights is now Bayard. End of an Era on the FEC. Another great video my dude. I’m glad I got signal pictures when I could of the signals.
@RoamingRailfan

That's not totally correct, they have been scavaging parts from all of the signals that have been removed (I even show them removing parts on the Palm Bay North ones) and I would not doubt if some of the first ones that were removed during construction are sitting in a yard somewhere just in case.

These specific locations featured are not getting new signals as these control points are being eliminated. All locations with signals (like the cantilever intermediate) are receiving a variety of modern LED “Vader” signal heads.
