Jurgen Prochnow in this is one of the coolest villains in movie history. Not cool in the sense of being awesome, but cool in the sense of being calm and unflappable. Even at the end when Axel fouls up his plans, he just lights a cigarette and casually warns him of what a mistake he's made. He's a pure sociopath. So much so that he doesn't even get enraged when his plans goes awry. He just orchestrates the cold-blooded betrayal and murder of the underling he believes responsible. He's completely reptile brain, and it's a shame he's not as well known as other, less intimidating, movie villains.

He really was. He was by far the smartest out of all the BHC villains. His plan to frame Cain for the robberies was pretty fucking smart. Foley and the gang had to do a lot of illegal shit to foil him and had it been up to normal BHPD procedures, he probably would have gotten away with it. They had to violate a bevy of search and seizure laws and even then he was minutes away from getting away with the whole thing. He was also the quickest to recognize Foley as a cop and real threat and ordered the kill, the day Foley came to his attention. Victor and Ellis tried way too long to take the high road and by the time they decided to get dirty, it was too late.

@JonJayAllDay

I think as far as performance yes he was better but I think they didn't do enough with him. With Victor in the first you really felt Foley wanted to get him and that Foley was in real potential danger especially during that shoot out at the end. In 2 Foley doesn't seem all that motivated to get Max or as though he is in real danger, he gets shot at outside the club once and it was a pretty bad attempt. There is one scene in the end that is oddly dark and eerie between the Max and Foley at the end but just like this scene it works better in a bottle than as a whole when you watch the full movie.

I disagree. Axel was on a fishing expedition. He didn't know if these were the guys. He just showing off the cartridge and seeing if anyone reacted to it. And THAT was their downfall. First Axel saw Bridgette and got suspicious. Then bad guys got scared by Axel hanging around that they decided to kill him. That's when Axel knew he hit paydirt.
@ZZ-os4nb
3 жыл бұрын
@@actioncom2748 I get what you're saying but I still think Darth Vader is more correct. If they don't use custom ammo, Axel never even ends up at the gun range. The ammo was a very significant piece of circumstantial evidence and frankly, the BHP was fucking up if they hadn't already realized that it was custom ammo. To chop down .308's to fit .44 auto mag absolutely requires a gunsmith which narrows a search for suspects exponentially. If anything, them deciding to ice Axel was the smartest thing to do at that point since he was the only one that recognized the rarity of the ammo at that point. You have to ask what the logic was in using custom ammo? They weren't trying to actually kill people in the robberies so they could have been using standard ammo and it wouldn't have changed anything about how the robberies went down. Using a special, super rare ammo is simply silly and completely unnecessary if you don't actually intend to harm anyone.
@actioncom2748
3 жыл бұрын
@@ZZ-os4nb In a sense, that's what makes Beverly Hills Cop 2 work. Axel, with his Detroit ways, does things that never occurred to the Beverly Hills cops.
