Wonderful and helpful video, thanks for taking the time! I found this super helpful in reviewing the Night Rules in a sensible manner. I think one aspect is potentially confusing and misleading though. The ATTACKER and the DEFENDER are Player Turn terms (see Index), always exist in every scenario, and are dynamic in that they change as the scenario is played. Whoever is prep firing and moving is the ATTACKER for that Player Turn. Thus each player will be both an ATTACKER and a DEFENDER in a scenario switching roles every Player Turn. A Scenario Attacker and Scenario Defender do not necessarily exist in every scenario (e.g. if both players setup on board, and an SSR doesn't specify otherwise, then there is no Scenario Attacker and no Scenario Defender). If a Scenario Attacker and Scenario Defender exist then they are static, they stay the same for the entire scenario. For example, the concepts of Freedom of Movement and Cloaking relate to the Scenario Defender and the Scenario Attacker and thus apply to the same players through the length of the scenario (or potentially don't apply to anyone if there is no Scenario Attacker or Scenario Defender for that particular night scenario). The potential confusion in this wonderful video relates to Ambush. Right now Ambush is discussed in the context of Scenario Attacker/Defender which is likely to confuse. The Ambush drs for Night Rules relate to the ATTACKER and DEFENDER Player Turn roles, not the Scenario Attacker/Defender roles (see E1.77). Both players will in fact have opportunity to benefit from the Ambush dr difference of just 2. For example, when it is the Scenario Defender's Player Turn he is now the ATTACKER and he will be the one to benefit from the Ambush dr difference of 2 if he chooses to advance into CC against the Scenario Attacker. Of course the Scenario Attacker is more likely to be the one choosing to advance into CC so it will most often apply to them, much like straying is most likely to apply to the Scenario Attacker, but it is important to remember that it is about the ATTACKER and not about the Scenario Attacker. Don't we all love ASL and its confusing CaPiTaLiZaTiOn terminology!!! And so being pedantic, in the excellent textual aids in the video it should probably say "Scenario Attacker" rather than "Scenario ATTACKER" which sort of confuses the two terms. Again, what a great tutorial video! I'm the type of person who really prefers the written word to most KZitem stuff, but this really was top notch and very well done. Thanks so much for all the effort - it seemed to focus on just the right things for starting out in the night without getting bogged down in a hundred and one caveats. Combining this video with some of the textual aids around really helped me.

Yeah, your right. I always interchange the two, all caps and not. Added an edit note to the description and pinned your comment.

Thanks, will do! Was thinking of doing one on other Chapter E rules, like gliders or air support.

Great stuff 10+ yrs overdue. 46:00 Are you sure the rout can enter enemy location. I don’t see that in night rout section. The unit would simply bounce like a normal rotting it would but not be considered failure to route as they would in a daytime scenario

Because the EN unit was out of sight (non-illuminated), the routing unit didn't know it was there so can move into it. And since there is no failure to rout, he is good to go. Crazy rule.
