The smell of success is not always pleasant. When something has set for 5 years or longer and you get it running well enough to get good and hot all the way through and all that time starts burning off.

Looks like you might need a few scarifier teeth, should be 6y5230. Almost looks like a few of the shanks have been worn as well, 9f5124. Might be wrong on the part#s, a 112 Cat is WAY before my time. Super cool machine.

Yeah not much on it that is not worn out, it probably won't get a whole lot of use. Thanks for the info, I may try and find some someday.

Start 2 min, then bleed the injection pump and then show this video on the internet ... How should today's young people learn something RIGHT.

After starting for more than 2 minutes, you first open the injection lines. First, after such a long standstill, you follow the course of diesel in the system. Second, where you opened two check valves from the injection Pump.

That is a nice braze job on an old casting that was worth a thumbs up. Great old mechanical machine. Some SAE tools and mechanical aptitude goes a long way. As we have grown to expect nice work Frank. I would suggest putting some Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel on that. Them old engines like the lube.

Thanks Tim, the brazing worked well on the radiator. Gotta have some patience to work with that old iron.

@@Digginok I truly salute the quality of that braze job. I see a lot of people who say they can braze that the brass looks like swiss cheese! That repair was void free and solid. That repair would have made an awesome video. These days it is hard to find someone who can braze well enough to have any business teaching other people. You are hired as the youtube brazing instructor! Thanks for taking the time to put that old machine back in running order. I like your spirit of I will work on that just to be able to work with that. Never change Frank, that is the mindset that made this country great. I am proud to be able to call you a friend. We need more people like you in this world.

@@Digginok I don't like the new and improved diesel fuel. When I was a young man if you spilled diesel on the concrete you had to clean it up like you spilled oil. Now you can use diesel fuel to clean your concrete! I had a 2nd generation Dodge with a cummins in it. When they changed the fuel that truck never sounded or ran just right. I found that MMO as a fuel booster brought that lost power back and quieted the top end noise.

I run Lucas additive in my truck and backhoe. It adds some lube back, it’s amazing how diesel evaporates like gasoline now days. Too dry for sure.

@@Digginok I have had trouble with Lucas mixing. Have you ever put like 1 gallon of diesel in a 2 gallon fuel can and then put in some Lucas and shook it? It takes way more to make it combine than I like. When I ran my service truck I saved hydraulic oil I drained that looked ok. I would put some in the fuel of the truck. It had a 3116 Cat that old engine would burn anything. It is a good way to get a second use out of hydraulic oil that was drained and it saves paying any disposal! If the filters have been changed properly hydraulic oil is decently clean.
