My mk1 1300 estate stood without moving for 20 years! It was absolutely no problem to start. I love these sturdy Ford engines.

Ooohhh. Those. In the thumbnail I thought it was a world-beating Lada. One of those- you could just paint ДПС on it and people would let you pass them, thinking you’re the traffic cops who take all their money in bribes… 🤣🤣🤣

Hehe. I guess this is the one and only way to pass someone with this little car, at least with the original engine. 😁

you shouldn't pump fuel out of the hose all over the place like that, the distributor and coil are right below it and will ignite the fuel, I know it happened to me with my mk2 Cortina GT when the fuel line connector came off from the carburettor from fuel pressure and caught fire but nice job getting it going.

Good point right there. It would be better to use a smaller, more suitable bottle for applying the fuel in.

I have an Mk2 1977 Estate. Haven't seen that carb before, maybe it is some replacement? Does not look like the original ones used in UK and the factory in germany. But then it is odd that no fuel filter was added. Great, now find some air filter solution. Engine was in good shape even with the mess in the carb

Yes, it might have been replaced in the past. I'm putting the filters one the first thing after getting rid of that leakage on top of the carb. Then off we go!

Never crossed my mind! 😄 I doubt I will ever have one myself, but would be happy to go for a ride in one!
