This shows how a song composed , written and sung by legendary Dr Bhupen Hazarika originally in Assamese some 55 years ago has embraced millions of hearts crossing the barriers of geography, culture & language ! The song itself has become a universal one & still so relevant even after 55-60 years ! Now, it's everyone's song or a song for the masses as dreamt by Bhupen Da ! In solidarity with the Gorkha brothers!

in life it's not always about being the most famous or making the most money- creating something that withstands the test of time is an amazing achievement- lots of small common people creating good things -thats how society advances and thrives

'Bharat Ratna' Dr. Bhupen is the pillar of brotherhood, optimism & strength. How his wonderful creation brought messages of peace during 'Language Movement' (1960), inspired mass during Assam Movement (1979-85) & so on.., are unbelievable !! A true music maestro, whose golden voice works as a bridge of communication among people of various communities. This masterpiece of Bhupen Da will inspire generation after generation.

As a Bangali from the plains my head hangs in shame and anger at the complete othering and humiliation of the people of Gorkhaland. In solidarity with the tea garden workers and common people of Darjeeling in the demand for their right to self determination.

@@nishantchhetri5961 Dr. Bhupen Hazarika himself said several times that Bistirno Parore ( Assamese)/ Bistirno Dupare( Bengali) / Ganga ( Hindi) was inspired by Paul Robson's Old Man River. This is not a translation of Old Man River. Both the lyrics and even the music was transcreated by Bhupen Hazarika. It's a known fact

One day Bengalees of BarakValley in Assam and Tripura would demand for separate "Bangla Land". Hope that demand would be legit too on the same ground as demand for gorkhaland.
