In the video they say John Wayne Gacy is still locked up today, when in reality he was executed in 1994. I’m also pretty certain he didn’t find any of his victims at parties where he made an appearance as Pogo the clown. All of his victims were teenage boys and young men, not little kids.

Mary Malone, a.k.a., Typhoid Mary, didn't actually know she was sick. In fact , she wasn't outwardly sick. She was asymptomatic. Science didn't even know you could be asymptomatic but contageous with typhus (she was the person who enabled them to find that out), so there was no reason for her to think she could be. When they finally figured it out, they determined she was carrying typhus in her gallbladder. They offered to surgically remove it, and she refused (surgery was far more deadly then, because most surgeons weren't washing their hands), so they locked her up. It's more nuanced than what the narrator said. He said she "knew about her condition the entire time". Actually, she came to realize that sickness seemed to follow her around. True, she'd move on when her employers became sick, because the authorities always came knocking and might accuse her of poisoning people, which she absolutely was not doing intentionally. She was just trying to scratch out of living as a cook, in the days before most doctors even understood germ theory enough to wash their own hands, much less, cooks. Because it was unheard of for someone to be asymptomatic but contageous, she latched hard onto that deniability, even, I believe, to herself for a long time. Deep down she knew something was amiss, and I'm not saying she was blameless. It's just not as simplistic as he said, and I believe scared and confused describes her far better than evil.

Uh, most of this video is inaccurate. Like weirdly so. It also includes people who aren't dangerous in a particularly impressive fashion. The Clown, John Wayne Gacy, ran a construction business and hired young men (sometimes he'd get ahold of boys, but generally young men), lure them to his home and torture and rape them to death, the stuff their bodies in the crawlspace under his home. The strangler is from India and was a member of the Thuggee cult which strangled people in the belief that every person killed prolonged humanity from destruction God/Godess of destruction. BTK is Bind/Torture/Kill and he wasn't found from a deleted file, he was found because he used a church computer to create the letter and the version of Microsoft Word was registered to the Church which was included in the metadata. Typhoid Mary had typhus. She didn't spread other things because if you're infected with a contagious disease and infect others you do so with what you are infected with; it doesn't morph into various things as if the infection is allow an evil spirit into the world or something. The lobster guy killed two people. Bad guy, but not especially dangerous. Most of the candidates for this kind of list would be presently housed in the Florence Colorado Supermax Facility, including the leader of the Aryan Nations prison gang who is handled so carefully that he is never actually accompanied; he was moved there since the gang he leads is responsible for something like 60% of inmate murders and the murder of a number of prison guards. El Chapo is housed there due to the perceived massive risk of escape or attack to free him, which during his trial in New York City resulted in his movement from the detention center to the court resulting in the temporary clearing and closure of bridges and 20+ vehicle motorcades which were met by federal SWAT officers in full tactical gear including automatic weapons. The blind sheikh, 1993 WTC bomber, 9/11 terrorist, underwear bomber, Richard Reid (the shoe bomber), Aldritch Ames (Soviet spy who ran the CIA Counterintelligence division and lead to an unknown number of Russian agents being executed), Robert Hanssen who spied for the Soviets and then Russians as a senior figure in counterintelligence in the FBI and similarly was responsible for the execution of an impossible to determine number of Russian agents. Chikatilo is deserving on the list. There are several prisoners being held at the Federal Prison at Terre Haute (location of the only federal execution chamber) that are held in something beyond Supermax called CMU, or Communications Management Unit, were they are denied the ability to have any contact with the outside world be it via phone, email, written letter, etc. I have no idea how this is legal, but if you need more than a supermax facility you'd have to be considered among the most dangerous inmates in the world. Sorry for the novel, but wow. It's like the original video maker was actually trying to misinform or something.

Thank you!! I watched this with such a scowl on my face like wtf? Of all the people locked up past and present, THESE are who are chosen? I've commented previously. Both John Wayne Gacy and Dennis Lynn Rader (BTK/ Bind Torture Kill(a moniker he gave himself)), were a couple of the most scary serial killers that I had to write papers on during my time in university. Both were "family men" and led innocuous lives. BTK in particular lived in Wichita, KS and killed for years. You should really look at both if not more, in long form (whether that's in personal research or review format). From a criminal psychological stance they're very different. From a surface level they may look similar; however, they are different. They/their type scare me the most, because they "hide" in plain sight and use various tactics to blend in, in ways other serial killers can't muster due to mental, psychological, or emotional differences.

There are as many reasons as there are guilty persons. It is about the age of twelve humans start developing empathy, and a concept of value in others. Some lack that development. It can be damaged by harmful environment, or simply never develop. Some are furious at, or about someone, and take it out on people who remind them of whomever has them so bugged. I once was hired to drive a man a few hours away. During the ride he said some troubling things. It made me think of serial killings that had taken place in the area. After I left him, I called the police to tell them I may have there man located. They asked questions, and they already knew things he told me about himself during the drive. If it was the guy, he was very disturbed about women who used drugs, and were prostitutes. We stopped along the way to pick up snacks. He insisted on holding doors for me. I let him, and thanked him. I wanted him to keep believing I was a lady. When the cop asked me if I was scared, I said no, I’m not a prostitute. That much is true, but yeah, I was scared. There’s just all sorts of reasons, and the reasons will never run out. I’m glad that man didn’t kill me.

I've studied serial killers for years, as an amateur, although I have a degree in psychology and I was a small town judge for 10 years, before that I worked for criminal defense firms for 8 years. I disagree with this list. Yes, they're all very bad people and no one I'd want to be around, but there's lots worse. Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Gary Ridgeway those are just American nuts, I'd put the Yorkshire Ripper on the list. Gacey killed teenage boys by giving them a beer and then showing them a handcuff "trick". The trick was to have the key. He raped them and then garroted them. The count was over 30, most buried under the crawlspace in his house, till he filled it up. He was executed via lethal injection and showed no remorse, even cursing at the witnesses to his execution. Aileen Wournos was also executed via lethal injection. I'm torn on what makes a serial killer but I have to believe that in the majority of serial killers, it's a combination of nature v. nurture. But, there's the odd ones like Bundy that only nature can explain him. BTK, stands for Bind, Torture, Kill because that's what he did to his victims. There's an interesting documentary about him on Discovery+ where his daughter even speaks. He's another one I'd say was more nature than anything else. I don't think that there's any one formula that fits all serial killers. Eventually as scientists unlock the DNA chain, they may find specific genes that cause some psychopaths to become serial killers and others go on to win Oscar's for their acting skills. Both sets become "different people" but the end results are wildly different. IMO.

As I was watching this, I was asking myself whether the we have a disproportionate number of serial killers in the US or it was just that the video selected a bunch of Americans. Google says we have 3x more serial killings than any other country.

Well... Considering we’re currently the world’s third most populated country, it’s not too surprising for most countries. There’s possibly other things as well. Most of these are all just guesses as to cases I think may be possible, so please do take them with a grain of salt. Maybe things such as it not being hidden as much as some other countries, or them actually being arrested and found guilty, or just that more of our serial killers are less intelligent or more arrogant perhaps (this one is quite likely, the other two are totally guesses though).

This guy is typical British. In America they would tell more detail about their crimes. That’s what really made them horrible. He didn’t give details that would of made it more horrendous.

No. Typhoid Mary didn’t know. And when they tried to educate her she took it to mean they were doing so because she was Irish. Anti-Irish sentiments where very high then. She died believe she had been made a scape goat. If you like into other asymptomatic carriers from the time you will discover that Mary wasn’t the deadliest, she was just the easiest to find.

They later found her diary where entries indicated she was at minimum aware she was infected with a disease. She also wasn't an inmate, though. Due to her unwillingness to cooperate and avoid contaminating things she was held in quarantine until her death.

Sort of a misleading title. I thought it was going to be about, ya know, inmates that are dangerous as in people who assault or kill other inmates or guards. This was just a really random list of serial killers.
