Convoys of army logistic trucks travelling spread out, including armoured vehicles, after two ships arrived at Marchwood Military Port near Southampton. Approximately 600 British Army vehicles have been participating in Exercise Steadfast Defender. Many of them from the 7th Light Mechanised Brigade Combat Team, aka 'The Desert Rats', operating as the NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF).
In this video we see MAN Logistic Support Vehicles of different variations including the Enhanced Pallet Loading System (EPLS), Recovery, 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 wheeled types. Also seen are Land Rover Medium Utility and Oshkosh Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements (MTVR) Close Support Tankers (CST), supporting the movements.
Two of the MANs are upfitted with armour cabs and turrets on the roof for gunners to operate from, one being transported by MetCalfe Farms. Some of the trucks are carrying Land Rovers and forklifts.
Exercise Steadfast Defender is the largest NATO exercise to be held since the Cold War. Over 90,000 troops are participating with over 1,200 combat vehicles, over 80 aircraft and over 50 naval assets from all 32 allies, including Sweden. British Forces vehicles travelled by ship from the Marchwood Sea Mounting Centre in the Port of Southampton.
