I have the same feeling after Silverstone 2021 and Hungarian grand Prix where Lewis gained at least 40 points. He only lost 7 in Abu Dhabi! Did you mean “not a fan”? If so I had the same feelings about his win. It’s hard not to like Lewis and if anything makes me actually dislike him as a personality is how he is of course a big time SJW and a little too “thankful, grateful, and of course blessed” and it comes off a bit fake to me. So it’s not I don’t like the person I just pull and cheer for another team and driver. I however wanted him to win last weekend at Silverstone after a certain point in the race. It seemed that it had weighed much heavier than I expected on his shoulders during his winless streak. We as fans love the emotion he showed just before the podium and that was great. “Get in there Lewis!!!” That’s a one off.

It was said on TV that Mercedes didn’t have any mediums left, so only 13 laps on the softs made sense I assume, great result, soooooooo happy for Lewis, done so much for F1 world wide, pity for George, Lando is still very inexperienced at leading a GP, seems a soft character, needs to stop beating himself up so much, he will convince himself he’s no good the way he’s carrying on, I’m a big fan of him, his driving is very good and mostly sensible, his time will come, soon I’m sure.
@charles-antoinemartel-roy

13 laps on softs, at Silverstone specifically, is on the limit of the range. At the beginning of the race, the softs fell off somewhere around 10 laps. Towards the end, with much lower fuel, it makes sense it would be more, plus Lewis and the Merc seemed quite kind on their tyres. But he had to conserve. You could see he couldn't even go as fast as Max most laps if he wanted his tyres to last to the end. For Lewis, however, it made sense. They only had a soft and a hard, and they needed a mega outlap to try and undercut Lando. For Lando, who had a medium, which he would have been able to push harder for longer, it didn't make sense to go softs.

Congrats to Lewis, and taking the record for longest time between first and (at the moment) last wins. Max meanwhile in my opinion has really shown his world champion status at races like this and Canada where he's getting more points than I'd expect. On the flip-side, I messaged my friend straight after the race and said "If I had a quid for every race Lando has had the pace to win and not converted, I'd have about a fiver by now which isn't a lot but it's a little concerning" as on my eye-test alone, Mclaren should be about level in the constructors by now not nearly 80 points behind. Hey Marc, good video, thanks :) a) Max might be considering leaving after 24 already, but can he ? clause wise and such? b) And if Max stays, might toto not be rethinking about getting in sainz instead? With a competitive car, will merc not look to be immediately competitive for the constructors in 25, and aim for having two top drivers? And if so, and Max stays at RB, that pretty much only leaves sainz. And Carlos, besides being a good driver, also seems a very good pro, who doesnt cause drama internally, whereas Max and Russel together could have a bit of Nico-Lewis vibes going on, around it. So it could be russel-sainz next season at merc i reckon. That is, if sainz will accept a one year deal? But if the alternative is driving around in the midfield or at the back for 1-2 years, he might well.

The Times reported in a column last week that Toto Wolff, Jos Verstappen and Mark Mateschitz (Dieter Mateschitz heir, 49% owner of Red Bull GmbH) were having diner together on Saturday in Austria 2 weeks ago (during the Austrian GP). It isn’t known what was discussed, but it may possibly be about Mercedes perhaps buying out Verstappen. Or at least laying the ground work for an amicable future split. Why Red Bull GmbH would want to cooperate with this may lay in the point that Verstappen’s contract apparently has a clause that allows him to walk away freely the day Helmut Marko resigns. And Marko has said recently he will not stand in Max’ way if he wants to leave. It would be Marko repaying the favour to Max backing him when Marko looked to be ousted by Red Bull.

How was Albon treated like trash? He was dropped from their junior program and gave him a second chance when he looked promising in F2, Hartley and even DeVries had practically given up on F1 and Redbull came in and gave them a chance. Albon when at Redbull was given all the time in the world to show some kind of trajectory and he just couldn’t. They kept him inside the family and still were a sponsor when he went to Williams. Ricciardo was given a chance to prove himself with a possibility to get back to the main team, but he isn’t beating Yuki, how is that Red Bull’s fault? The only two times I can think of where Redbull may have been a little unfair, was with Kvyat as honestly he wasn’t that behind Daniel, but Verstappen winning on debut justified the move. And I also thought Vergne deserved a spot on the grid, he was pretty much on pace with Daniel.

Has Red Bull been throwing everything at the car to keep them at bay, to keep the dominance or are they spending more on next years and the year after car? I assume that McLaren and Merc and Ferrari have been devoting much more resource to finally catch them than Red Bull does to stay there. Unfortunately, Checo's poor form makes it harder for Red Bull to cruise to victory from here, but that is what they will do and arrive with a much more developed car that their competitors next year, and Max knows that.

Im a Max fan, but was happy to see Lewis get this win, for hinself, legacy, and his fans. Great memory to move on with to Ferrari next year. Checo should be let go, and Id like to see someone younger and fresh, behind the wheel of the car across Max. They could move Checo to VCaRB in place of Riccardo, the Lawson to RB next to Max.

@@Max_Flashheart It's possible the promotion to RBR would be a good bridge to getting an AM seat if Fernando retires in a couple of years. He's out of a seat regardless once Honda has split from the Red Bull teams IMO. I've not heard of a second team taking the new Honda engine but he could go there too if a team switches engines.

It seems reasonable to me that re-signing Checo is to keep Team Verstappen sweet. Ok, so potentially it costs them WCC money- but so what? The difference is $100m between first and last. But in a team used to spending $400m that now has a cost cap of $150m, is losing a portion of $100m a problem when winning the WDC surely sells more cans of fizzy drink than the WCC? Plus, keeping Checo earns then Carlos Slim money. That must surely make up a portion of any lost Constructors money?

Is there a pattern at Red Bull emerging ? Is checco loosing confidence in a text book copy of Daniels exit from Red Bull seat ? If so how long will Ian Lawson last and would he be out of F1 as a result ? Remember some 60% of these jobs are about business NOT driving the car .

I am not sure why McLaren decided to not double stack... They meesed up Piastries race a bit. And as for tyres, you could see Max catching up to Lewis quite quick. I am quite certain that given 5 more laps Max would have been able to pass. It was SUCH a good race.

Does Max really fancies a go at Russell? Max doesn’t seem like the type to like direct competition. He would want to be absolute number 1 status and as long as I’ve known Mercedes, they have given their two drivers more or less equal rights and that is not going to be looked with good eyes from Max.

Great video for the honest unbiased assessment of the race. It's sad the fan fair and bias for Mercedes 2nd driver on Sky. Great for Lewis setting Silverstone track wins. Max is still the dominant driver regardless of car. Lando and George allowed the Lewis,Max finish through poor strategy and breakdown.

I'm a big Lewis fan. The win is special. I think the prospect of this win opening into another era of him regularly winning is pretty low, though. The quality of the competition is insanely high, his one-lap speed is probably not where it used to be (meaning, he's still faster than most, but not everyone), and Max is operating at a level that perhaps no one ever has. Sad, as I really think Lewis v. Max was the F1 that meant the most to me. Max v. Lando or Max v. Charles is less exciting somehow.

The driver market is very complex now. Mercedes: they want Max. They also want Kimi Antonelli. Max will never accept two year contract. He wants more + some performance clauses. If Mercedes wants Kimi in within two years, Russell is out, if Max joins. Red Bull: Perez needs to go. Mental collapse. Go with Liam Lawson. If Max leaves, get Danny in along with Liam. Yuki, i dont see him mentally sharp enough. Carlos Sainz. Tricky situation. I fear he have waited too long now. I wonder if he blew every opportunity, by waiting too long.
