Not criticising but do they train you that you should wait a couple seconds after saying clear prop before you start the engine? I see everyone doing it almost instantly and I think it would make sense to wait. Just want to know if that's a thing or not.

I used to fly the BN2A Britten Norman in San Juan Puerto Rico in 1985, with a company named Crown Air. I loved the plane and like you said, very easy to fly. Thank you for sharing. Very nice video and be safe.

Thank you very much! Flying Islander in MsFS2020 at the moment, and am still learning alot about the aircraft, but very easy and beautiful to fly. Just wondering, what exactly do the port mags and stb mags do upon start up? And what does the start isolater do? And can i switch it off once the engines are running? Very thankful for answer, thank you in advance! I dont fly in real life, yet, but i wouod love to become a bush pilot one day, cheers

hey , The magneto is a self-contained generator of high voltage that provides ignition to an engine through spark plugs. A magnet-hence magneto-spins in close proximity to a coil of wire. As the magnet spins (or the magnet rotor is turned), it generates a strong magnetic force that is “held back” by a primary coil.

Capt,Do you know somewhere I can get my B2N islander type rating.I am interested in bush flying with the rating of B2N islander.
@MarekMarciniak

Hey ! You don't need type rating for BN2. At least here in the States. The way i started flying BN2's was around 10 flights with pilots experienced in this type and then i was good to go. It is really simple plane to fly. How many hours do you have and where are you located ?

To capture both the ils localizer and the glideslope on the autopilot/flight director. Otherwise vs will stay on previous selection of vertical nav mode attitude, vs, or altitude.

Hi... I flew a normally aspirated BN2A years ago and wonder if the aircraft you demonstrated the hot start was fuel injected or had carburettors? I was confused seeing the PRIME Left/Right switch near the starter switch and you used a carburettor accelerator pump method to prime the engines. Can you resolve my confusion?
@MarekMarciniak

@MarekMarciniak

@@davidpalmer9780 the primer control fills with fuel and squirts that vaporized fuel directly into the cylinder intake port or induction system (not into the carburetor, as some believe). But i have never had to use this. Our technique works better ( according to my boss 😁). Best Regards Marek

@@MarekMarciniak the islander doesn't have a primer so to speak, just the accelerator pump in the carb. My SOP was to throw the sump drains into the carburetor filter. cold start 6-10 pumps, hot 3 if it won't start cold, not enough fuel, hot too much
