I was working on triceps the other day and during getting changed to go to work I realized that I’m finally getting some definition in my triceps. Almost on cue a a guy with huge arms comes in, dwarfing me. It’s easy to get discouraged that way, but ultimately we ought to compare ourselves not to who someone else is today but rather who we were the day before.

When I first started lifting, that first body was pretty much my end goal. I thought to myself that, if I can look like that, all my problems with my confidence and self-image will magically go away. Speed forward two years, and I have gained more than 15 lbs of muscle and have become bigger than that dude in the process. Has my confidence improved? Yes, but only marginally. I still look at myself in the mirror at times and think that I'm fat and unathletic-looking, yet I KNOW that I have a very good physique by normal standards. I need to slow myself down sometimes and realize that what I've worked towards is impressive and that I should be proud of myself.

Exactly. There was one picture of some guy I used as a reference point 2-3 years ago. "One day I hope I look like that". I saw the picture again just a couple of months ago. I am somewhat proud to say I am bigger than that guy in the pic. Now does it make me feel good? Not at all. The guy looks small to me now.

Bro same. Yesterday I was looking myself on the mirror and thought exactly the same but I've made soooooo much progress since I've started.

His posture looks terrible in the second picture. It's not just about lighting and pumb. Learning to stand with good posture is important for a bodybuilder
