This song was inspired by a former girlfriend of Robert's who, some ten years previously, had given him an ultimatum - choose between her and music. This song was originally supposed to be an instrumental so Jimmy used around 14 guitar tracks on this number. It is beautifully lush.

@@henriettaskolnick4445 I would love to believe that and I’m sure you’ve read that somewhere online but that just not what’s happening in the song. Most of the song there’s max two at once. During the part I think you’re talking about around 3:57 you only hear about 6 at once. There’s 4 maybe 5 at 5:28. You just gotta listen closely.

I'm completely convinced of two things: 1. Led Zeppelin didn't make a single bad song. 2. You can't make a bad video. "Over The Hills and Far Away," I can't wait for that one on your Zep journey. Awesome reaction, Zay! Would be interested in seeing a companion video to these reactions where you just spill your gut reaction thoughts about the song you just heard.

Jimmy Page said that the music of Led Zeppelin was designed to feature each band member. Each one compliments the other. You hit the nail on the head. Also, the band went against the grain and never focused on releasing singles like everyone else. They considered each album a meticulously polished body of work. Most bands have a few good songs on an album and the rest were fillers. This is why all of their songs are so great. They didn't release an album until they were 100% satisfied with the way each and every song was put together, and it shows. More than 50 years and three generation later their music is still relevant because they ARE the GOAT. Enjoy your journey!
