I had a plan this year to take the winner of the ArcheryTalk 2020 Hunting Bow Shootout into the woods with me this year as my hunting bow and I figured show you my broadhead tuning process using that bow.
My set up this year is the Bowtech Revolt with Gold Tip AirStrike arrows and Annihilator broadheads.
I had just given the Revolt a basic tune the night I first took it out of the box, so I figured I'd have a little work to do in order to get broadheads hitting with field points. As luck would have it, I didn't have to touch anything on the bow at all. That is good news for me, but doesn't exactly make for an exciting video.
I did have to do some nock tuning, which I try to explain a little in the video. Basically, I rotate my nocks a quarter turn (using a four-fletch arrow - 1/3 of a turn for three-fletch arrows) and note how the broadhead-equipped arrows fly compared to field points. I've had some arrows with fairly large differences. Though my AirStrikes did benefit by finding the ideal position of the nocks, they performed much better than the Kinetic Kaos arrows I shot in prior years.
In this video I also explain what I do if my broadheads are hitting left/right/up/down compared to field points.
This video was recorded at Peel Archery Club.
