I love how ballsy they are with the snares. Those features are so exposed for so long, but they are SO tasteful and not just crazy fast rhythms. Immense restraint from a writing standpoint. This show is perfectly written.

The emotion these guys perform with is truly incredible. Every time I listen I feel the heartbreak and pain which is encapsulated within the music and visuals. This isn’t a fun show, it’s a gut wrenching one, which is exactly why it’s also one of my favorites.

What's the source music where the guy sings "Am I even visible"?
@vanathan
6 жыл бұрын
This is the source, actually. The opening vocals, with that line, was written and recorded by Adam Watts specifically for this show. Adam Watts has some albums and EPs out, two of which are released through Broken City Artists, and has a few songs accommodating BCP shows (Love You More is his song playing in the closer).

Does anyone know if the feedback from 1:40-1:55 was intentional? I remember being horrified when I heard it at finals because I thought their music effect score would tank, but I remembered that they added feedback after the snare break in the 2017 show and was wondering if it was part of the show.
@maybemooch
5 жыл бұрын
Drumline Archives I don’t even remember the feedback, it was always just so loud in that section, I’m guessing that the mics just picked up more than it could handle. The feedback in 2017 came from the crowds reaction being so loud. There was a musical cue to continue into the closer that a lot of marching members couldn’t hear, so it made it quite difficult to know when the closer actually started. Sounds like it isn’t too out of place, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was intentional and no one told me about it

to me, this is the story of a lost and disturbed man finding a way out of his shell, suffering alone for some great time, he feels that he is a failure to society and nobody has ever valued him. When the time arises, he feels frightened about the feelings he develops for a specific woman, and fears the consequences of commitment. Ultimately, he surrenders his anger and mistrust, allowing himself to fall in love with her, until they are finally whole.

The lyrics from the top of the show to the snare feature were written specifically for the show by Adam Watts so there's no source song for the unfortunately. The lyrics and most of the front ensemble music from the snare feature to the quad feature are from iRussi - Fell in Love With a Thief. The last movement is taken from Adam Watts - Love You More (which also seems to discreetly sample the beginning of Twitch for most of the song). Hope this helps. :)

BCP didn't have a clear theme, with their really cryptic lyrics, which you basically NEED to have, otherwise it's hard to get a good music effect or visual effect. One of the visual effect judges put them in 6th place, so that hurt their score. Rhythm X only beat them .0125, which is absurdly small.

Former cop Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) sees a chance at redemption for past sins when New York City's Mayor Nicolas Hostetler (Russell Crowe) calls on him for a special job. Hostetler thinks his wife, Cathleen (Catherine Zeta-Jones), is having an affair and that it may hurt his chances for re-election. However, a bigger scandal than expected pulls in Billy right at the start of his investigation. Double-crossed by the mayor, Billy begins a relentless quest for justice.
