I dont have a big problem with repairing that small portion of the tip but unless he has recieved extensive training in carbon fiber repair the 3 ish inch repair he mentioned is call for concern. Structural designs may be compromised, and the last thing you want is a propeller coming apart during high speed rotation. If it is indeed carbon fiber (since he mentions the repair product is designed for fiberglass so now I have a doubt) when carbon fiber shreds the little pieces are extremely sharp. Glad you are having fun learning to fly.

Your timing is perfect for this video showing structural repairs to a plastic component with Q-bond. 5 years ago, I bought some after seeing it on Eric the Car Guy but never got around to using it. During that time, the box sat on a table, and the cyanoacrylate super glue included in the kit hardened up inside its unopened bottle. The black and gray powders stayed OK, however. Today, I was getting ready to repair the handle of an old microwave oven when your video popped up. To replace the solidified super glue that had gone bad in the Q-bond kit, I used some watery thin Krazy Glue. The repair turned out great after following the tips in your video.

A prop strike on an airplane is usually a mandatory engine teardown and inspection plus the prop repair or new prop. So instead of 20 minutes and $12.00 in superglue it's several days and thousands of dollars.

Not throwing shade at super glue/cyanoacrylate, but why not use epoxy when repairing a carbon/epoxy composite? A good epoxy adhesive gives about 5,000 psi shear strength (bonded to aluminum). Cyanoacrylate is about 1500 psi on the same substrate. For bonding composites together in the lab , we use epoxy with aluminum filler. Not familiar with Q-bond powder but it looks like a similar concept. Hopefully the repair guy did a thorough inspection for any delaminations or skin/core disbonds further down the prop. Hidden subsurface damage from low-velocity or "tool drop" impact is one of the weaknesses of composites. My 2 cents

Nice prop repair! Quick and easy. A little baking soda in super glue works great on wood props - not sure if that would work as good on carbon fiber. Would certainly be cheaper ... and that's very appealing to me! 😂 But hey, don't be embarrassed. You're already flying and still learning in less than 2 weeks! 👍👍🍻 I fixed that problem child Lexus!! I bought a wiring diagram off AllData DIY. WOW what a difference troubleshooting when you know where the hell you're going! Took me longer to read over the diagrams than to repair the problem. Long story short, it ended up being a crack in the alternator 140A J-case fuse element! It didn't burn out from overcurrent, but fatigue-cracked! Amazing. Getting that stupid thing out of the fuse box was impossible, though. Ended up busting the clear plastic top off it - that's how I tested both sides with my test light and confirmed it was severed. Then I performed a Russian repair. 😁 I smashed both contacts down until they touched. Fixed, lol! I absolutely could NOT get that stupid fuse out of there. It's recessed down into a hole. I tried everything. That was the dumbest engineering I've ever seen in my life!! Anyway, the customer is aware of the rigged repair, and just needs to run the thing a month or 2 before she'll trade it in. Chances of that causing a fire are slim to none - the alt.wire would have to dead short to ground. She's happy, I'm happy. 😎

@@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics Hello Ivan: I've got an '03 Chevy Trailblazer w/4.2l inline 6. A P1345 comes up in diagnosis. The engine runs rough sometimes. I clear the code and cleaned the throttle body and it seems to run better. Why is it running rough periodically? The scanner says reduced power isn't active so if that's the I don't understand the reason for the rough running. Plugs and coils and the usual suspects check out okay. I would appreciate any pointers you could suggest. I know my question isn't related to the repair you're doing but I know you're the ace when it comes to automotive diagnosis. Thanks and have a gr8 God blessed day.

there known for cam sensor failures and cam solenoid failures (oil/debris plugging the ports) which causes improper camshaft advance. high mileage and lack of oil changes causes the ports to clog up. of course just don't go parts canon and replace everything, diagnose it properly ;)

@@throttlebottle5906 : Thanks for the info. I found out the rough running was due to a misfire on #4 cylinder. Funny thing is there wasn't a P0304 which you'd expect. I used my Autel maxisys scanner and did cylinder balance and injector test and thats how I found the misfire. Did a simple tune up including one coil and it runs gr8 with good fuel trims. Thanks again and have a gr8 God blessed day.

Welcome to the club, Ivan. The first flight I took without an instructor, I skidded on the ground and damaged my prop. I bought a new one and had the old one repaired. This sport isn't cheap to follow and that is all I am going to say about that. Of course, like you said, a person can't fly a damaged prop. Something else, if you are ever standing near some one that shatters a prop, be careful of flying slivers of carbon fiber....that can travel several feet. Great video!
