The Tees Rivers Trust is carrying out a series of habitat works in the Yorkshire Leven. This was taken just hours after an alder flow deflector was anchored to the river bed. Prior to this work, the flow was slow due to over-widening of the channel by livestock and sediment had dropped from the water column and smothered the gravel substrate. This is just one example of low cost engineering works that do not imcrease flood risk but that have massive benefits. Total cost of this feature (including time)- £25.00. Estimated number of priority BAP species observed by using this feature in a 1 hour period - 50.
