My kids range in age from 4-17, so I have many school years left, & I honestly dread each day dropping them off, b/c as school shootings increase & laws don't change, they become more & more the norm. Sadly, if laws didn't change after Sandy Hook, I wonder, will they ever? Our next Democratic President needs to declare gun violence a national emergency (there have been very few Americans killed by immigrants, but hundreds, thousands actually killed in mass shootings) & propose some COMMON SENSE GUN LAWS!

This is a thing no one, no matter their age, should ever go through, specially not a child, specially not like that. To Alyssa’s mom: you’re so strong, you’re so brave. it could have been more easy to let the pain drag you down but instead you fought back, with the undying love that bonds a girl and her mama together. Thank you for what you’re doing, I’m sorry that there wasn’t someone that fought for your beautiful girl the way you’re fighting for so many children to stay safe. I am sorry for your loss. I so admire you and when I hear you’re segment on I always try to catch what I can.... really there are four of you that reach me in a way unlike any other... you, Chris, Don and Anderson. Each of you share something in common about what you do that is SO important. Although you are up there every day and we get to know who you are and small parts of your personality and lives... each of you do not make your segment about yourselves and who you are and what you want to talk about. Of course your personalities shine through and but what makes you great, what makes you truly great is that you are the voice of other people... people who for some reason or another whether good or bad, need someone to be their voice. And you should be proud of what you do - because you are the voice of those who need to be heard. Thank you. And thank you to You, Don, Chris and Anderson for being someone else’s voice when it’s so easy to get caught up trying to be your own, as so many others do.

Relentless Ruthie I’ve heard people say Coral Gables which is where I live in is a very fancy and rich place in Miami to live in but still I don’t feel safe and also because of reckless street racers. There’s like three that live in my neighborhood and they make me absolutely furious and are so frickin annoying

Sean Milko Miami local here. South Miami (anywhere near Downtown/South Beach) can be pretty unsafe at night. Anywhere else in Florida should be fine though, maybe do some research on Broward county. I’d be careful in Miami-Dade area

This made me cry like a baby, I can't imagine the loss felt by this mother or her family. It's entirely too much. But I love the love she expresses and the absolute ferocity with which she continues to fight for her daughter and the rest of her kids. These shootings need to stop!

My heart goes out to that mother, to all the parents who have lost children, we lose too many people to the evil acts of others. Bless the souls of all involved 😔💕

At school I jump any time there’s a big noise. A book falls off the desk, a chrome book falls, a chair, anything... that’s something we shouldn’t have to worry about at the start of a new year. High school students or any student shouldn’t have to fear that this could be the day it happens at your school.

i put off watching this in my recommendations for a whole year and i just now finally did. it feels like yesterday that this happened, i went to school in atlanta at the time and the day after was all dedicated on how to avoid getting killed instead of what could be done to prevent a killer. my heart breaks for you alyssa and your wonderful mother.
