My mom got me this machine for Christmas and she recommended I watch your videos when I got home, because “ your the only one she can understand” I’m from Alabama and sure enough your accent made it just like butter learning how to do this. Just wanted to say thank you from two southern girls ! 😂

I just got this sewing machine for Christmas and love it! Your videos have helped me a lot getting use to brother especially because I learned on my moms old pfaff. I have made a few things already but I was wondering if you had time if you could possibly do a video on tension? Thanks again for your help, love your videos!

Hi, I have the Brother LX3817 machine. I am a beginner. How do you get the correct tension?
@momdoesstuff
Жыл бұрын
For normal sewing, the 3-5 range should work. Start with 4.

I bought this machine months ago and i am having issues with the bottom stitch being straight. It’s all jagged and clumped up. Can you help me figure out what I’m doing wrong. Thank you.
@momdoesstuff

Problems on the bottom usually mean something wrong with the top thread path. #1- thread might be incorrectly seated in the tension discs. Take out the thread and rethread, being careful to have the presser foot in the 'up' position until you get ready to thread the needle. #2- check the tension. Raise it a bit and see if that helps. #3- Could be a bent needle, try a fresh one. #4- could be your machine just doesn't like that thread. I know it sounds crazy but it happens. Try another brand. Hope some of this helps!

Hi thank you for your videos. My question is how do I fix when my top thread is tangled around my bottom bobbin inside and keeps breaking. Hopefully you can kinda explain in simple terms. Oh I have the same machine.
@momdoesstuff
2 жыл бұрын
I would first remove all thread, top and bottom, and carefully rethread. Make sure the presser foot is raised when threading the top until you get to the needle. Make sure the bobbin is loaded correctly. Tension should be between 3 &4. Make sure there is some fabric under the needle before you sew, so that you aren’t just sewing air. Hopefully this will fix?

My bobbin bird nests Amy ideas why? My needle unthreads also. My bobbin doesn’t wind tight and doesn’t go from top to bottom a lot of issues. Any help would be appreciated.
@momdoesstuff

If the 'nest' is on the bottom, it usually means a problem with the upper thread. I would try a different brand of thread and rethread carefully. Hope this helps!

Hi Mom, thank-you for these videos. My thread keeps getting bunched up underneath the fabric when I'm sewing. Do you know what the problem could be?
@momdoesstuff
2 жыл бұрын
Problems on the bottom are usually because of something wrong with the upper thread. Take the thread out and retread it carefully. Then check your tension. It should be between 3 & 5

I cant figure this out, every time I sew. the thread is coming out both sides of the fabric. is it supposed to do that? I'm a complete noob, if anyone can help, I would really be grateful!
@momdoesstuff
Жыл бұрын
Oh no 🙁I’m sorry you’re having trouble! The threads should visible on both sides, but not really ‘coming out’. I always unthread and rethread. Maybe check tension. Should be between 3-5.

@@momdoesstuff thank you so much, I feel like a dummy, I guess it is supposed to come out both sides. I've only hand sewn, so this machine stuff is like a foreign language! thanks again- urs was the only video that was understandable while not making me feel like an idiot. do you have a video that goes thru basic, beginner tools then expands to after the basics are aquired? either way, love the video I've seen so far! anna

So im just sewing baby clothes together with a straight stitch I can’t get it right - when i flip my work over its always missing some stitches- I’ve played with tension and its still not doing great
@momdoesstuff
Жыл бұрын
I would try a new needle, making sure it's inserted all the way. Sometimes they are slightly off, and this causes skipped stitches. If that doesn't fix it, unthread and rethread carefully. Also, make sure the bobbin is wound nice and tight. And, you might want to try a different brand of thread. I'm often surprised at how some machines just don't like a certain brand.

when i try to sew the thread works for one second then gets out of the hole and doesnt work. Please help
@momdoesstuff

It comes out of the hole in the needle? If so, just pull out a couple more inches of thread before you start sewing. And check your tension. Should be between 3-5
