This video is made up of clips from one of my Trail Cameras used in my Research Program, where I’m studying the effects on Wildlife forced from their natural wildlife habitat into suburban properties and yards due to urban sprawl and land development in the State of New Jersey.
In This Video From A New Trail Camera (Browning Dark Ops Full HD Extreme) :
In this video you will see the resident Red Fox Vixen & Dog pair, Jolene… a Vixen who is a two year old offspring of the resident Red Fox pair, two kits who are likely the resident Red Fox pair’s Kits, but could be Jolene’s Kits.
Also there is another Red Fox Dog who is Jolene’s Dog. A Wild Turkey Hen and many White-tailed Deer, including the orphaned and then adopted Buck Oliver. There are numerous Raccoons, Virginia Opossums as well as Eastern Cottontail Rabbits, who’s population is really booming. You’ll also see a Northern Flicker Woodpeckers, Eastern Gray Squirrels, and you’ll hear a Pileated Woodpecker’s vocalization, even though it wasn’t captured visually in the clip, there are other Birds & Wildlife… and at the end, a White-tailed Deer Doe with her twin Fawns. The Doe is the Doe who adopted the orphaned Buck, Oliver.
Note: You will notice that the camera that was mounted on a trail camera stick and cable-locked to a tree, ends up tilting on its side. This is because the tree the camera was cable-locked to, was struck by lightning during a Thunderstorm and the tree fell into another tree. The camera was safe, and kept recording while the tree was laying over, held up be another tree.
Lighting also struck another tree one of my other cameras was mounted on. Fortunately, both camera are fine. But who says lighting never strikes twice ?!?!
Other videos to come soon, including from the cameras that was mounted to the other tree struck by lightning during the same storm.
I’m recovery well from my leg wounds and surgeries on my legs. I’m in soft casts that I hope I’ll get off by the middle of September, and will I’ll return to the forest and my work.
About Me:
I’m a Wildlife Biologist & Ornithologist and Photographer/Artist from South Dakota (Lakota - Oglala Sioux). I’m currently studying Suburban Wildlife displaced by habitat lose and I’m attempting to bring attention to the detrimental effects of urban sprawl for wildlife and humans. Urban Sprawl dramatically increased wildlife and human contact, which leads to more wildlife being killed and humans killed as a result… Wildlife-Vehicle Collisions lead to 200+ deaths and more then 26,000 injuries yearly, more Wildlife attacks on humans and wildlife preying more on house pets and livestock just to name a few of the problems of urban sprawl and habitat lose… and the threat of extinction of our birds and wildlife.
