As a fig-friendly San Franciscan I have no choice but to hunt this down. Thanks, Pete!

It’s good! A bit sweeter than some but I really enjoyed it!

American amari is one of the most exciting new categories. You guys are killing it out west.

Feels like a regional divide with the more bitter options out east. The sweeter ones out west, but we’ll see how it plays out…

Love the exploration and finding new things. Found a localish amaro made from sweet peas and they called it “don’t call me sweet pea” 😅

That is awesome! The Niche products can be amazing, or terrible! I hope this one is the former!

Uncle Pete, great work! Picked up Woodlands last year when down in San Francisco. It is about $35 in CA but OR and WA tax structure always inflate costs, it runs $55-70 up in the Evergreen State. I guess with no income tax the state needs to general revenue in other ways... Interesting that you mentioned Amaricano (from fast penny spirits up my way) as a comparable option as they are both similar yet different in a Black Manhattan. Woodlands is a unique product and makes for a great Black Manhattan, (2oz Rye, 1 oz Amaro) but not sure I will replace when exhausted. There are lots of new and exciting domestic Amari to try out. Keep the good work coming and beautiful camara work as always.

The Amaricano reminded me of Brucato in a certain way, but they're not the same at all of course. I agree with you, this is a very interesting bottle, not sure if I'll replace it, I didn't replace the Amaricano (yet!) either but...So many things to try!

I’m going to need to hunt this down (their map makes it look like it won’t be too hard)- really intrigued by the chaparral as well.

Woodlands plays nice with Mezcal too. I use the Orchard the most. It does well as a replacement for Nonino in a paper plane. Chaparral is worth trying as well. It's sweeter and more mint driven than Chartreuse. I haven't tried it in a Last Word yet but that's their recommendation on the Brucato site.

Oh good tip! I’ll try Brucato with mezcal that sounds dope.

Love figs and love those bottles. Wish it was around these parts or something similar. On another note, Have you ever tried Lux Alpina Walnut Liqueur? I wonder how it compares to the Walnut bitters? Want to make a Sentimental gentleman

I’ve had lux alpina, it’s a pretty widely available nocino, more of a liqueur than a bitters, but would work great in an SG!
