Any show Bruce Bugbee is a quality show. I think the selection of questions could have been better, most of us have seen his videos, but more advanced questions like VPD and Lighting for example. Most of the questions were on things we already heard and know, and if you don't know you should know, and watch his videos

I do have to agree with you on this point, this was very short notice, only 2 days to get things set up. I'm hoping I can persuade the good Dr. to come back on, for a higher level discussion, and Q&A. I know I directed the conversation back to a more basic understanding, as I know there are many in the community that still need the basics. I'd like to see a much broader panel of more experienced growers when we have the doctor back on. Send positive energy focused on that outcome. lol

Hopefully more deets to come through your channel. That's huge, if it's repeatable. I have a number of the old 730nm 3 diode boards HLG sold, but have never used them as more than flowering initiators and even then I only used a 12/12 schedule. The 13/11 schedule is where the real gains in DLI would be. I'm trying crop steering(without any WC sensors) and seeing a much quicker transition to flower than any I saw using far red to change phytochrome state

I really want to see studies done on plants grown in soil that’s full of life and proper. Growing in hydro and doing this research makes me take this information with a grain of salt. We know plants do better in a proper soil system, than a hydro system where these studies were done.
@kensomerville

The main reason to grow the way they do in the lab, is to take that factor out, as they are testing for light only, and a living soil would change the result and science at this stage can not even start to understand what the biology is doing, we will have to relay at this time on the result that will be shared from the people that are growing this way. As far as the information, you will have to test it in your own grow, just as all of use do. lol I hope you will share any results that you have, as we are all questing for knowledge and understanding. :))

Microbial ratios and balances are going to differ from one pot of soil to the next even with the same brand/mix of soil and same "amount" of microbes and fungal innoculants, so how can you actually follow the scientific method using that method of testing where you literally would have no control. I get it. You like soil. But your own mental block is your bias and unwillingness to challenge your core fundamental beliefs results in your willful ignorance. The scientific method needs a control. Don't be obtuse.

I described in Chat shortly "how Climates of original Cannabis Strains are". First of all, i spent aloooot time finding out wich were the most Legendary Cannabis Regions. So i try to summarize their Climate: Some of the most legendary Regions were Thailand, Vietnam Cambodia, Mexican, and Congolese. And lets take Afghani for the more sedating Legendary Regions. Most legendary Cannabis came therefore from Regions with Intense Light. And rather on the Wet Side of the Spectrum. - Thailand , the Thaistick, the best came from Luang Prabang.. you could say is not thaat Wet, but Cannabis was grown there only in the Wet Season from Juli to around December. So, its Raining good Amounts and exessive at Times. But then come i, and i assume Vietnamese was even stronger Weed (thats no claim, but my research lead me to believe this) Almost anyone who smoked Vietnamese in the 70s , who was there mentiones Dalat Region. Dalat is Highland, And if you go watch Videos of Dalat, and look up Charts you see its quiet cloudy , rainy. They even wear Jackets often. And this type of Climate is very good representation of what Cannais loves imho. A longtime hunter for the best 70s Mexican , seemed to suggest overall the Westcoast of Mexico was where some of the best came from. And if i understood right, Guerro, the mountainRange next to Acapulco was very interesting. Overall we see Mountainarea aswell.. Mountains always mean Rain, i know this.. haha. The Clouds litterally get squezed. Congolese is also pretty Wet, atleast in the Ground. Alot Rivers there.. I forgot, in Thailand the original Thaistick was grown around Riverbanks. I havent on screen if Congo is lowland, i think it is. So, overall i suggest a Climate with either good Moisture in the Ground, or also Roommoisture, thats what Cannabis likes. Also consider that Cannabis derivered originally from Tibet , Himalaiian Areas. again: Wet, like a bit cloudy at times. rather Highlands. The Temperatures drop at night. And dont forget Himalyay itselve is more southern than many of us live. -- Intense Sun, not necessarly the UV alone. You got to understand that thowards Equator the whole Spectrum of Sunlight-colors is heightend in intensity. Its simply MORE of the same thing. Not just UV wich is just one Color of most Colors. back to Tibet: also Ernest Small says the earlyest varietys that spread from Tibet around Middle East and Asia were often grown at Riverbanks.. Or in some Weedy sites. Sometimes it was grown on Compost dumping grounds/but then sometimes also on very poor Soils . So, that are the climates where THE BEST came from. Its remarkable that Thailand, Mexico, Congo all are very equatorial, but the origin of Cannabis is in Tibet, a little more north, but its remarkable that strong Light is a key Factor for THE BEST. Those regions is where literally Tripweed came from (dont be shy some of the trippy stuff is way more calm than you think. Only Sativa HYBRIDS make you anxious). This was the best (atleat for the majority of old Stoners, tastes are individual). So, we forgot Afghani , wich was also the best. Its also a Mountain Range, relatively southern.. With one difference its pretty dry. Doesent change the overall assumtion, that moisture is a good thing for most Cultivars. So, thats it------ Google up those said Regions, and seache for Clima Diagramms. And Soil Compositions. Agian: - Best thai came from Luang Prabang, lowland alongong the Rivers - Best Vietnamese came from Dalat Highland - Best Mexican i assume was either Acapulco lowland or Guerro Highland, i must say in not 100 percent sure on the Mexican - Congo overall. (dont forget there was a Strain coming from Kilimanjaro aswell , but most of Congo was i think homeland for legendary pot)

Amazing information, thank you for sharing. What I got out of your comment, is that the cannabis plants thrives on intense light (equatorial level light) and a great deal of moisture; whether it be in the air (mist, humidity, etc.) in soil (rain that was able to saturate, then run-off, not to encourage root rot) or in proximity to a water source (river) where the plant would take what it needs, when it needs it. Again, thank you for sharing your experience and research. P.S. Forgot the point about warm days/cool nights (mountain temps), I live in the foothills of our mountain range, and even in the dead of summer (heat), the nights are always cooler, air coming down from the snow-capped mountain tops.

@@sillililli01 well compiled into one single formula, yes thats it! One short note: Its not getting thaaat cold at night in those tropical Spots where "the best" came from.. BUT it should be noted that temperature drops to a Degree, actually it is pretty warm.. and it could be pretty important for indoorgrowers. Also consider those are longflowering Sativa regions. if you grow a typical today strain, selected for dense buds, then you may runn into problems by totally sending them into the Tropics. lol. many genetics today were selected in our climate for many generations, so these might get problems with moisture in flowerphase. But other than that those climates imitated, thats a very good approach i would say. Yes, and dont forget that tropical Soil is pretty different. It drains excess Water effortless .You got it.

@@erewrw1906 Good additional points,. thanks. We grow indoors, in a shipping container, so, create our own environment. The plants, so far, seem to enjoy it, and are thriving. One mistake we made was bringing in a few donated plants, we soon had spider mites. Yikes, what a mess, we had to destroy all of our plants, We'll start fresh this spring.

This is fantastic information and really fits with Dr. Bugbee's 9 Cardinal Parameters. If we can get the 9 down, and then throw in a living soil, bottom end, I think we are going to see things from our girls that we may never have seen before. I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can get back into my grow, and start doing testing, with all the knowledge I have learned from this community. Big ups my friend, and thanks for sharing your research and understanding. :))))
