Bruce Cockburn (co-burn) is an fingerpicking guitar virtuoso as well as being an amazing song writer. He is a Canadian treasure.

I love his other song too, If I Had A Rocket Launcher. The Barenaked Ladies also do a great cover of this song. Bruce has so many poignant, insightful, thoughtful songs; an intellectual writer.

U2 quotes him in their song, God II, "I heard a singer on the radio, late last night. He said he's gonna kick the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight." I still laugh about that because I stumped my friend who was a huge U2 fan when that song was released by asking which Canadian artist (my friend & I are Canadian) was quoted by U2 on their album Rattle & Hum. He couldn't believe I beat him on some U2 trivia.

From Bruce's 1984 album, " Stealing Fire" an album that explores war, politics and social justice. This is a more optimistic, hopeful track that celebrated the power of love to overcome adversity. This is one of his most enduring and popular tracks with a catch melody and upbeat tempo with Bruce's great storytelling vocals. This timeless classic, which has inspired countless covers, remixes and reinterpretation. Next hopefully we'll hear Wondering Where The Lions Are or False River, a lovely song with a 3 minute acoustic solo, while the band jams on a single chord. Bruce is a Canadian Superstar. 🇨🇦 Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Andre. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Saw Bruce at the Pella, Iowa Opera House. Intimate venue with seating for about 200. It was just Bruce and his guitars onstage with no backup band. Mesmerizing performance from one of my favourite artists.

Not retired, I saw him last year. He just put out an album, "O Sun O Moon" in 2023. You've heard a couple of his muscle-y rockers, next I suggest listening to one or more of his acoustic songs. As has been said here, "Wondering Where the Lions Are" was a radio hit back in 1979, a bouncy song with a reggae feel; A really beautiful and delicate song you might like, if you're in the mood for beautiful and delicate, is "Bone in My Ear" from 1994's Dart to the Heart, or "Whole Night Sky" from 1996's The Charity of Night.

He's recorded over 30 albums and is still recording and touring (solo!) in his late 70's. He plays in many 'lanes'. Check out "Stolen Land", "Call It Democracy", "See How I Miss You", "Tokyo", "Tibetan Side Of Town", "Pacing The Cage", and "Child Of The Wind" (not all have music videos) ... I could go on and on. He's amazing.

That line is even better than you think… gotta kick AT the darkness (not ‘out’)… which implies a sense of futility but still doing it in hopes of bleeding daylight.

Why has nobody mentioned his biggest hit in Canada ? " Where the lion sleeps " . Saw him live in Calgary about 20 years ago. He comes out just himself and a guitar . I was blown away at the man's talent. He would thump on the guitar as drums, the result was so amazing.

Try "the whole night sky". It's become a song I connect to loved ones passing, but a beautiful song. Also "the coming rains". No real reason, beyond it's a nice song, especially if you have a "rainy day songs" list. Edit: I wrote this before you said current music of his. These are both newer songs, but not real new. Edit edit: how could I forget? Try "pacing the cage". If you've heard Stevie Wonder's visions, it's a song like that. Not sounds like it or similar musically, but a song that gets you in your own head

Skin, the lead singer was almost blown of stage. I hope you can react a one of their numbers. Weak, Secretly, Charlie big Patato, Hedonisme. Already thanks RJ
