In 1981 with Samson he didn't know how to work his breathing. He developed that aspect when he joined Maiden. Ever since, he's been improving his technique in order to get the best possible results with his state of voice. A true legend.
@anthonyalfieri8271

You're right, or at least I agree with you. The technique he sings with is one that takes years to develop. Instead of passing a lot of air through his vocal chords, he compresses his chords and focuses on vowel sounds. Also, his vibrato is diaphramatic not glottal, enabling him to stay in pitch and adjust the speed. I screamed my voice hoarse every weekend for decades. After learning this way of singing an doing the necessary exercises, I can sing all night, every night and my range increased by an octave and a half. Sorry if I bored you, I'm a singer and very passionate about it.

One of our guitarists said to me that he likes that thing I do where my eyes roll back in my head sometimes when I'm singing like that. Mate, I'm just pushing it until I start blacking out! 😁 20 years later, I'm wondering why I thought those songs were hard when I had no problem with them now! I got older, but my technique got better.
