Bruce Lee way is like a good wine that you can't say is not good. There is many way to defence your self, but this one is the most efficent, you can like it or not but that's it.

The guard is very realistic; if you were attacked in real life, you'd be completely flatfooted at the start. (In fact, I get the inkling these were move by move descriptions of actual fights Bruce Lee might've gotten into; can you imagine how many people would be attacking him just for the fame of it?) The vertical punch grip comes from Wing Chun; I've compared it to the classic punch I was taught in Tang Soo Do, and it's quite a bit faster, and loses little strength.

i'm not to keen on a lot of the techniques in these videos (vertical punching, overly-relaxed guard etc) but i love these self-defence ones. i once learned jujitsu and had to do a lot of 'defence from grab, strangle etc' and virtually all the moves were too slow and too complicated to pull of in real. the techniques here however are easy to remember and pull off in a real engagement :)

This was back in the 70's, guys, it was the best around in America. Man, have things changed. A sidekick from a surprise attack is not easy. Front kick to groin is better. But these moves allowed us to improve, including me. MMA has taught us many things.

Excellent demonstration, but i not agree about the guard position. Don't forget you that Lee stay in fake guard, or better, with his strongest part of the body a had. If you are a natural rigth hended is not easy learn to stay in rigth a had. But for Bruce was bemamed more than natural. In few words his war stand position much more than a figth guard ...

Hey there, have you considered "Musclegend" (search on Google)? There you can watch a smart free video demonstrating how you can develop notable muscles quickly. This made it easier for Brandon to overcome his body building stagnation and thus build ripped lean body mass with no fat super fast. Hopefully it helps you too...

Ducking underneath a swing? Yeah whatever. That's unrealistic. And dangerous. Imagine it was swung for the body instead of the head, or he adjusts his swing to be abit lower and instead of getting hit in the body, you've now ducked into the pole/baseball bat etc and 'decapitated'.. haha Or what if it was a machete or katana? You gonna try and duck that too in the slight chance that it will be swung horizontally at head height rather than a low horizontal swing or a top down/diagonal swing? No, either you stay out of range, or you get so close that they cannot swing it. You don't stay in their range and pray it's a hugely telegraphed head height horizontal swing so you can now try and duck under it unless you're retarded or your opponent is..
@ex0duzz

jim hayes So you basically said to run away and that ducking under a sword is bullshit? That's EXACTLY what i just said, so yeah. Thanks for repeating what i just said and saying you agree with it. You're the one who's uninformed, since you don't even seem to be able to comprehend the message you're responding to. Or you messaged the wrong person since it seems your message should be directed at the OP rather than at me.
