First video in a new series automating the Bruder low loader trailer for the Mack, Scania, Mercedes and Man tractor truck units. In this first part I fit telescopic legs using the handles from an old suitcase and power them using Actuonix linear servos. The build is deliberately quite detailed as I want modellers at all levels of experience to be able to follow, replicate & hopefully improve upon what I have done. I am very pleased with the results and will be fitting a lifting mechanism supplied by PiggyTailer in the next episode (hopefully with micro switch travel limit switches).
For reference parts used:
1. Old suitcase (£2 from my local charity shop)
2. Actuonix L12 micro linear actuator Stroke : 50, Ratio 100:1, max operating voltage 6v www.actuonix.com/L12-R-Linear...
3. 2x 70mm lengths of 6mm aluminium rod
4. 7.2v NiMh 800 MaH battery (from an old RC toy, maybe Hobby Engine)
5. 1060 type ESC (will be used to power the ramps) www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electronic...
6. Tunigy TGY-i6s 2.4ghz RC transmitter & receiver with touch screen programming (the that I bought in the Black Friday sale at Hobby King for £22 with free postage!) hobbyking.com/en_us/i6s-afhds...
7. Lots of small cable ties & Gorilla super glue with a brush in the head plus cyano activator.
Please feel free to comment, post suggestions, ask questions or provide links to your own creations. I very much appreciate all of the thumbs up and hope and folks that have subscribed to the channel. There are quite a few more Bruder conversions in my head & waiting to be created.
