Travellers to this islamic country usually just spend a day here, and if you're like them then this is the guide for you. Here's what we did on Day 3 of our Brunei trip.
First is to visit the mosques and there are two iconic mosques here in BSB such as the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque (we went to the latter one but the former is the one closest to the city center and waterfront). If you chose to go with the former, then you can just walk to the Royal Regalia Museum and explore the waterfront where you can take a boat tour to see the proboscis monkeys and Kampong Ayer. Afterwards, you can quickly drop by Istana Nurul Iman or the residence of the sultan, tourists are not allowed to enter for most days of the year so you just have to take a picture at the gate. If you have more time, then you can go the Empire Hotel which is a 7 star hotel and is one of just two in the world.
Since alcohol/liquor is not permitted in Brunei, many locals and tourists alike cross the border to Malaysia and we did that before going to the airport and flying back home.
