Nick, first of all, THANK YOU very much for doing these tests. Your analyses have been super extremely informative. As a fellow tinkerer, I admire your methodology. Now, for my question. How come when you do your tests, you do not have the battery voltage as being constant? I.e. - wouldn't you want to conduct the test where the battery voltage is always at 8.4V? I am assuming that the amperage would vary (same for the KV and RPMs). So I am thinking that if I set my timing to draw 6 amps @ 7.4 volts, it would actually be a higher amp draw when the battery is at 8.4 volts (and lower once the voltage drops below 7.4 volts). Or am I completely mistaken and the amp draw is actually constant across the voltages? Thanks in advance!

Hi Yes, I keep a good 7500 Lipo on charge all the time I am testing. The tester is designed to give the same result with varying input voltage. i have measured the same 6.0A and KV with a voltage showing on the display between 6.8 and 8.0V. (A near flat lipo and a fully charged one). A lot of users will look at the RPM which will increase with voltage, but KV will stay constant. However ,If testing without the Analyzer, yes use a lipo that is near full charge for the current measurement (ie. with an ammeter).

Hi Nick, thanks for all the great videos. Can you do a video of finding the sweet spot endbell timing on 6.5T motors to be used for the new 1/12 1S mod class?

Thank you for the video! What amperage draw would you suggest for a 5.5t motor? Thanks in advance

Hi Olli I have checked some mod motors that are performing very well, and found they were also set around 6amp off load. So go for 6 amps.

Hello. Is there a chart we can follow to find sweet spot of our motor with respect to Ts? Thanks.

Hi Nick, have you tested any 21.5T motors for sweet spot? F1 is a growing class and I think motor timing is allowed.

Hi Joe The 21.5T needs to be checked in the F1, to see what temperature it runs at. I think 6 amps will cause it to overheat. can you do some tests , I suggest starting at 4 amps. I have seen some F1 going much faster than others, at West London track, so need to see what FDR they are running. I assume the F1 runs without a cooling fan. All the best nick

+Nick Adams I'll start at 4A then. Only done 1 meeting so far, but the motor ran hotter than I would like. There's just enough room for a fan depending on the shell. Will let you know how I get on. cheers

Hi can we use this analysis device for 3000W bldc motor that comes for electric vehicles

The maximum operating voltage is 10volts and maximum current about 20 amps , which is 200watts. Only If your motor will turn over at that voltage and current.

so nick got a question how much kv is good for a 17.5 motor whats good and whats bad?

+mike Gilson Hi Mike See the video on the 17.5T sweet spot. Depending on the timing, the KV will vary. Good KV is above 2800. 3000 and above is very good.

what would be the sweet spot for a 21.5 motor . amp draw?

Hi B The 21.5T can run very hot in some , especially if you cannot fit a motor cooling fan. (The 21.5T has a high winding resistance that generates heat losses). So the amp draw will normally be set by the motor temperature over a race. The 21.5T needs to be checked in the F1, to see what temperature it runs at. I think 6 amps will cause it to overheat. I suggest starting at 4 amps., with a 2S lipo. Then add more advance if motor running well and not too hot.
