Bibby is projected to be the no.1 pick in 1998, but the clippers grabbed olowokandi instead. Who wouldn’t have taken the projected no.1 pick if he falls down to no.2? Plus, it’s not like that bibby is not good in Vancouver although his prime was in Sacramento. Also, Paul pierce, who was projected to go no.2, fell because of some off the field and personality issues which forces teams not to risk on him

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Yes, this all matters a LOT: Sonics and Blazers fan, Japanese-American and male. From my birth year, in 1995-96, I was 22-23, and in the PRIME of my life! The Sonics had finally broken through, and gotten to the NBA Finals. And, Vancouver BC is only 3 hours away from Seattle, so friends and I went to Sonics at Grizzlies games. Whenever the SONICS would score, half of the GM Palace (Now Rogers Arena) would cheer, because they rooted for the Sonics, up until 1995. I loved those early Grizzlies jerseys! I have some Bryant Reeves, Byron Scott, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Number 1, and Number 29 (because the Grizzlies were the 29th NBA franchise, at the time) jerseys, with the cool Native American trimming. AND, the Final Four in 1994-95 was held in Seattle, so I got to watch Bryant Reeves, up close! I KNEW that Bryant Reeves would pan out! Starting in 2012, Vancouver (overtaking Portland) became my favorite vacation city!

Grizzlies started making mistakes when they drafted Daniels in 97, they did so good with Reeves & Abdur-Rahim. Could've gotten Ron Mercer, that would have been awesome. Bc in 98 they got Bibby. Like seriously, you draft good in your first 4 drafts, can make you a contender. Look at OKC.
