As someone who has read the book, don't. Its a well written book and very insightful but the story leaves you feeling empty. The end of the book sums it up the best, everything passes and in the book its the same things just happen. Its a sad book don't read it.

The book *No Longer Human* is a truly wonderfully written novel. It is vastly known as a depressing tale, and that may be true, but it is still an incredible book. From the beautiful wording to the way that some people relate to it more than anything. Some people may say that you should not read it, as it may leave you with an inexplainable feeling of sorrow, but I personally disagree. It is truly Dazai’s masterpiece, and I think that everyone should see how some people feel everyday, and feel how Dazai has felt all throughout his life. Sorry, this is a bit long, but in my eyes, all that I said is true. Take care! Make sure to drink water, eat, and try to sleep at a healthy amount!

This is good. I suddenly remember a fanfic where the quote is, "Dazai makes everyone around him feel human, but never really feels human himself." Is it okay if they react to BTA (Bungou to Alchemist) it pretty much sums up the real Dazai's life. It's okay if you don't want to! I'm just really happy with watching your videos.

it literally just hit me that the reason why Chuuya and Dazai are so close compared to other people is because Chuuya isn’t a human. He doesn’t have the kind of emotions that Dazai considers weak, so therefore Dazai considers him worth his time. Just think, neither of them cry, ever. They can talk to one another without feeling as if the other is weak or crazy. Crying rn

I've read the book and let's just say the book itself was really well written. It's just that, when you read it, you don't feel hope for Dazai. He seems to empty, and it leaves you feeling like that too. It touches on topic that can be very sensative to people. I wouldn't recommend reading to anyone. It's a good read, but at the same time it's not.

the book is really depressing (from what I heard) and was the last book osamu dazai wrote before his death (which resulted in su1c1d3) I'm planning on getting it but making sure my mum doesn't know it's Japanese cause the country we're from is not on good terms with Japan ;w; Also, it's been said that you shouldn't read the book if you're mental health is even decreasing by a little, showing how depressing the book is but tbh it still looks good

I read No longer human during an all nighter while filming myself for a school project, this is not a big nor heavy book by just looking but this was a long night for me and i ended it filling empty. A great book, very relatable and probably one of the reasons i started therapy. Not because it traumatised me but because it made me think and reflect on my life and realise a lot of things. Like the main character i wan't happy with how i was living my life because i let myself gragged around by everyone wishes but my own. I was sad, with no ambitions at all and some pretty *bad* thoughts. So in a way, No Longer Human is a good read, an interesting book and all in all a classic, but also, if you're in a fragile mental place maybe go to therapy first before reading it. I know i said it motivated me to get help but it was more out of fear to become like Yozo than anything ... So yeah, stay safe ♡

My favorite part about the book was that it was clearly written by an unreliable narrator to the author's own bias. It makes it really sad to read all the degrading things he talks about himself and others. It's a worldview so pessimistic and without purpose, I just feel an intense sympathy and pity. Especially at the Epiologue. BRO, I started bawling at the epilogue because it put the nail on the coffin, TELLING YOU that the entire novel was a completely unreliable narrator. The contrast between how Yozo saw himself and how others did broke my heart. Makes you just want to hug him. :(

As someone who read the book, I could relate to a few things Dazai said. I don’t think us reader will ever have a true understanding of Osamu Dazai, the novelist or Osamu Dazai from Bungou Stars Dogs. After you finish reading "No Longer Human", and you look at this "anime" character, you realize this is f*cked up. You can see how happy he is in the manga/anime ppl made. but now after you read the book you can just see he's hiding something, he's not a happy funny guy. People are forgetting this show is about a true story and they just continue thinking it is a random show ppl made up and ship the characters. I would rather research the plot and think about it.
