This song is really fun, but it’s definitely one that they (specifically Namjoon) are embarrassed about. Namjoon issued an apology over the “west side” thing. Here is him talking about the song in an interview: *Q: You shouted, “Westside Till I Die” during ‘If I Ruled The World’.* RM: That’s well… I was really wrong then (laughter). After the album came out and I listened to it, I thought “Ah”. I think I was immersed in the emotions while recording and ended up shouting like that. *Q: What’s the specific reason why you feel you were wrong?* RM: First off, I didn’t even live in the 'west side’… And even if that song had a G-Funk sound, what I shouted wasn’t the way to respect the west coast hip-hop musicians. I believe there are many meanings inside the words “Westside Till I Die”. Sweat, struggles, pride, etc. Isn’t it a phrase that compressed all these factors of life. *Q: Are you saying that you overlooked the weight and complex undertones that the phrase has within hip-hop?* RM: That’s right. I believe it’s different from words like “Yo!” or “Check It!”. As a result, I was thoughtless. *Q: Are you admitting it to be a mistake?* RM: Further than a mistake, it was a wrong.

I really love their older music and there are a lot of gems, it’s unfortunate that a lot of people don’t check them out. I love what you’re doing, it’s nice to see someone actually going from start to finish so you can actually appreciate their development as artists.

About the "Westside" lyrics at the beginning, Namjoon apologized for this in an interview before. He said he was ignorant and did not realize the depth behind those words. I remember him saying "further than a mistake, it was wrong". Obviously apologies don't take away the pain from anyone that was offended by bts' past mistakes, but bts wouldn't have such a large community of black people in the fandom if the members hadn't proven that they have learned and sincerely regret their mistakes. The lyrics for this song are quite amusing in general ;^; I think present day, bts really left behind their fragile masculinity and embraced many other sides of themselves. Thank you for the reaction!

I appreciate people like you who leave this kind of info in the comment section tbh. I feel better knowing that much. And I agree with them leaving behind their fragile masculinity. You can see the toll it took on them in their earlier works tbh.

Thank you for this comment and you can see how much they have grown over the years. I think they thought ok we have to be like this but then like you said learned to shed that fragile masculinity behind and be themselves. I know they have even changed lyrics in songs and apologized for songs that had a misogynistic lyrics. Which I think really shows that they do care about people and that they want to change for the better.

Kpop Multifandom TaeminJungkookWonho I’ve listened to most of their old songs and I just don’t like most of them, of course there are gems, I’m just not a fan of that sound in general. Not liking it and not knowing of it are different though. At least you went out of your way to give it a listen which is what a fan should do really. I think that's what separates being a fan and liking someone . I like many artists but i won't necessarily check all their work out but as a fan of an artist i want to dive deeper and check out their roots and progression. I like a lot of their earlier stuff but then i have an eclectic taste, the only genre of music i can say i dislike is country. Though I don't necessarily love their older stuff the same as i do some of their newer songs. :)

Just a reminder that if you felt that this song was a bit insensitive or like you pointed out with the "westside westside westside" was a bit odd, Namjoon has worked a lot on improving himself and apologized for things he's done in the past. He's an amazing and sweet person who really has grown over the years, and as you listen and read lyrics to their most recent songs I'm sure you will notice as well. They've come far and done a lot to prove so, I hope you continue to enjoy their songs and performances and support them as a group!

I don't make comments on KZitem very often but I just wanna make an Anthony and friends appreciation post. This isn't particularly related to this video, more of a general statement. You are, I believe, the most sincere and least problematic K-pop reactor out there atm. I first came about you from your Brockhampton reactions and I was a huge fan of the way you carried yourself and spoke with such passion. Then you started with K-pop reactions (you are actually the person that got me into K-pop) and didn't allow yourself to be influenced by the increase of subscribers and such. As a queer person, I really appreciate how you and your friends analyse and talk about K-pop. You're the only channel that I'm aware of that doesn't have even a hint of toxic masculinity, dogwhistle queerphobia or misogyny. It's pretty hard to find a K-pop reaction video without at least a little bit of "oh, they're so touchy, are they gay?" or "omg, guys in makeup weeeeiird." You don't make any assumptions, you don't alienate your LGBTQ+ subscribers and you always do your best to analyse things with through a culturally sensitive view point. I'm sure I'm speaking for other folks when I say all of this. As a queer subscriber, thank you for providing us with a safe space where we can all enjoy your videos without cringing and waiting for the subtle bigotry. Making and editing these videos takes a lot of time and effort and we appreciate everything you do. It's nice to see a group of guys with such social awareness.

It's such a banger totally lit absolutely hype song that must be seen live! The 2015 HYYH Concert where they perform it even does have the english subtitles on screen so you don't need to do the lyric vid. This song is an homage to all the hip hop artists that inspired and meant so much to them while growing up! This is one of the reasons why they perform it so passionately with so much energy while getting the audience so hyped while running around while performing it! I have the link for the vid with the English subtitles down below. It was quite hard to find since it doesn't normally come up when searched since it's listed funny. 🔥👍🙏🙏🙏😎💜❤️💜🔥😵😍💜❤️💜🔥🤗🐥

Anyways the teacher was askin each of us our dreams were n when it was my turn i told everyone i wanted to have a son. I still do, its my dream to give birth, be an amazing mum and have a beautiful family. At that age everyone laughed at me and i felt so wrong, everyone else wanted to be doctors, lawyers, i remember a kid said he wanted to be the guy who picks up the trash, everyone laughed at that kid but not as much as they laughed at me. I felt so wrong for having that as a dream but im happy i realised that i wasnt wrong. Its true, at any age, no ones dream should be mocked. its just tacky.

8:47!!!! IKR! I don't get it! Back when I started listening to them, even if I wasn't that into the fandom yet, I was already checking their older stuff, like... I just began to consider myself an army months later, but then I already had seen basically everything they had done. I know the most important thing in the fandom is to support the boys, but I feel that knowing them helps me understand who they are and how to care for them, and defend them properly from all these antis. Anyways... Tbh sometimes I feel there's still stuff I missed and there's been three years. I'm glad you're doing this and listening to their older songs. I know the boys talked about a lot of what was lacking on these, but I see them as a chapter of their stories and that tells me a lot about their growth. I love them (the older songs. and the boys). heheh

hey anthony! you should check out BTS's song Wake Up and their lyrics maybe seperately as i feel it gives you a small glimpse on behind the scenes of the effects of their hard work and how it may have affected them mentally and their outlook to get through those hard times and set backs to keep working hard during their stuggling predebut (for RM) and early debut days - also i dont know much about you on a personal level but i feel you may be able to understand them all and relate to some parts which may be similar to how hard you work yourself and look to the future and disregard sleep and maybe your current well being to instead trade it for and focus on your future well being, success, and outcome - just a suggestion! i hope you'll get around to it if you can :)
