Thanks for reacting ! Dynamite is a feel good song that was released during covid times to share good vibes and make people smile. Unlike most BTS' songs, it doesn't have a deeper meaning than that but it did the job as it broke records after records and people were jamming to it for months. To reach out to an even bigger public, it was also their first all English song (not that they really needed that because they were already a global phenomenon while singing in Korean). But it did help reach out to a wider range of people. Because it was during Covid, they used sets and green screens for this music video kind of portraying a tribute to American vibes (and a beautiful tribute to Michael Jackson as well). But you'll quickly learn that BTS' music videos are rarely green screens (unless it's painfully obvious and on purpose) and they almost never use CGI preferring real life effects. To sum up, this is probably the most "typical" song they've released and even tho it's cool it does NOT represent their music or the group as it is. So yeah Dynamite is good but it's about 5% of what they do. 😊 And it's kinda the same for their 2 other "all English" songs. Don't get me wrong, they're still GREAT songs but just not representative of their MESSAGE to the world. Anyways, I'm one of those who requested the "guide to BTS members" and as you said, it WILL give you all the informations you asked for. The Korean industry is a little different from the American one (and their company did things EVEN MORE differently in some ways). But to make it short, the company was planning on creating a group and they went looking for people. Auditioning, scouting and everything... A lot of people trained alongside these members but the 7 of them made the cut and really started working as a true group before they even debuted as BTS. You'll understand why in the guide as each member brings something inestimable to the table. BTS wouldn't be BTS without any-one of these gentlemen, they're a force together. As of now, they are on a break to fulfill their mandatory military service and they officially will come back together in 2025. Since they are not able to join - all 7 of them together - for a while, they took the opportunity to release solo works before engaging. All of them doing exceptionally great in different styles, music, genres etc... You could also react to the other members on their own, you'll be blown away. That being said, thank you again for reacting to them, you're doing amazing and are appreciated !

So, here's the background story: BTS have been together since 2012. In Korea music companies do a lot of artist development, I think it's something that is not really done in the west like that. So the western idea of "putting a group together" does not really explain how it works in Korea. So, basically young aspiring artists get signed by companies to be trained. During that training process, which usually takes several years, it is decided if the trainee will be able to debut as a signed artist. That being said, BTS were a bit special in this respect. Their company was a tiny company with a dream. They signed RM first, in 2010 when he was 16 because he was such a gifted rapper and lyricist, who already had a name in the Korean underground scene. The company had the vision of finding other hip-hop artists to debut a hip-hop pop group. SUGA, who was also an underground rapper, songwriter and producer joined the company the same year at 17, as did j-hope, who was a hip-hop dancer. They all made music during those trainee years. The company encouraged them to explore their own music and express themselves, something which was not that common for other big entertainment companies in Korea at that time. During those years other young people signed as trainees and among those were Jungkook, who joined at 13, Jin, V and Jimin. None of them came from a hip-hop background. Jungkook was just a gifted teenager with a dream, Jin was an acting student, V had been training at a private music institute and Jimin at a school for dance. After Jimin joined in 2012, it was decided that those 7 would be the group that was formed around RM as the leader. The three rappers have always had writing and producing credits on all BTS albums right from the start. They also always insisted on the vocalists singing live despite their exceptionally difficult choreographies. They basically tried to set themselves apart from others by stressing their own artistic vision and involvement - something that not everyone appreciated and which probably added to the hate they received right from the start. They had a hard start because the competition in the Korean entertainment world is very fierce and some big companies have very strong connections with important people (for example TV stations). So BTS' story is basically an underdog story. Unlike what many people in the west think, they basically had to struggle their way up without the industry's support BOTH in Korea and the west. However, some fans recognized their exceptional talent and dedication right away and supported them from the start.

J-hope actually was signed first in April 2010 and received training in his hometown. RM was signed next that summer and Big Hit decided to form BTS around him and so he was the first member of BTS. Suga was signed next and came to Seoul to become a trainee in November. J-hope came to Seoul to join them as a BTS trainee in December.

As an American, I appreciate the 3 English songs BTS released during the pandemic era. They were specifically meant to uplift people’s spirits. But, these songs weren’t written by the members. RM does have a credit on one of them, but it’s not like his usual involvement. The vast majority of their songs have Korean lyrics with English hooks and lines that just add the ability for us in the west to sing along. Their Japanese songs are vocal masterpieces! Since the members are involved with writing lyrics, especially the rap line (RM, Suga & j-hope), their songs are mostly very deep and often address subjects like self-love and acceptance, mental health, social & political issues, etc. They also use literature, philosophy and psychology as a basis for entire albums. I’ve never seen a group that has the power to make millions of people go in search of knowledge the way these guys do. Keep exploring and believe me, the extra effort you spend by reading the lyric translations and even watching explanation videos is well worth it. Borahae 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

They always release behind-the-scenes for their MVs, so you can see which scenes use real sets and props and which scenes use CGI, which they usually keep at a minimum. The one in the basketball court is Suga. His name comes from his favorite position in basketball, shooting guard. He has also been appointed as an NBA ambassador recently and has a Suga x NBA capsule collection. No, there's no bad blood between members. They love each other like brothers. You'd think they'd enjoy having all the attention to themselves in their solo appearances, but instead in every opportunity they mention how much they miss the other members and how they look forward to performing together again.

I do want to note that its not super up to date, but its not that old either. Bts are currently on a temporary break as they each go off to complete their mandatory military service. In the meantime, the members are doing solo projects. All members have put out solo work in this time (side note: they did have solo work while doing group activities too. It just wasn't the focus as much. There are also solo songs on bts albums).

Many have mentioned watching Taylor Mari's - 'The Bangtan 7" which gives a nice bio on each of the members. Another good one that will give you a sense of how deep their discography goes and more of their evolution musically is Rice Squad's, "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS (2023 Update!)" . It gives a brief history of how BTS came to be and uses the chrono of their album releases to take you from their beginnings pre debut to around August 2022 it touches on how they and their sound have evolved over the years up to that point in time. The two videos complement each other very well. Would love to see your reaction to some of the other member's solo projects and more BTS. Enjoy.

On the solo careers...BTS has always done solo work and encouraged one another in their solo work from the beginning. Sometimes they collab on each other's work or do cameos in their MVs. RM and Suga were doing solo singles and collabs before they even debuted with BTS. All of the Rapline members (RM, Suga, j-hope) have put out extremely high quality Mixtape Albums over the years that are just amazing art, 5 albums in total. With this break for their military service (Jin, j-hope and Suga are already serving and the others will follow soon) they had to take a break from group work, so found it the perfect time to release more solo work. All of the rappers released another solo album each, and then each of the younger members released their first solo albums, although they have been releasing singles, collabs, OSTs and covers pervious to this. The only one not to release an album was Jin, the eldest, who had to go into the military first. He released a single that he cowrote with Coldplay called The Astronaut, as an I Love You to ARMY before he left. So in total there are about 20 albums as BTS together, and there are 11 solo albums among various members.

To become a kpop idol you have to audition for a company. These auditions are rough and very few make it through. If you get through the audition you become a trainee, and trainee’s often train with the company for months or even years before they are placed in a group. The groups are formed by the company for the most part, they didn’t just all meet up and decide to start a band.

I know people do this song because it’s in English. But BTS music in Korean is amazing. If your into metal as I am I think you’ll appreciate our rap line so much they are rapping, but especially Suga and j Hope have almost like a rock vibe to their sound. BTS Also does edm, r & b, hip hop, pop etc.. they have not gone their separate ways. They have to go into the military. They will be returning together as a group when the finish service. These boys love each other like family. If you react to a guide they are long but ARMYS will watch them with ya. Once you learn their story as a group and their individual stories you’ll be hooked. And I hate the term boy band. I feel it doesn’t fit BTS. They are musicians. Some members play instruments, the rappers write, compose and produce. And the vocalists have songs they’ve written or co written and produced. Most boy bands are not that involved. BTS also pretty much built their company from the ground up and are all shareholders in the company.

They already signed a new contract that will end in 2025 I believe. So they are still a group and will continue many more years. All there songs have a deep meaning to them. Make sure you have Closed Captions on. If not available might be useful to find the lyrics to watch after the video or performance. Wide range of genres. Consists of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They have several variety shows to watch RUN BTS, In The Soop, and Bon Voyage. These shows are fun to watch and you get to learn more about each of their personality. They stay true to themselves. Here is the irony on their looks: Are they all objectively gorgeous? Yes, yes they are. But - The standards in KPop and the S Korean entertainment industry in general are really unreal and kind of cartoonish, and the majority of BTS members actually did not/do not fit the standard for looks. So much so that they were called "The Ugly Idol Group" when they debuted. They were chosen on talent. Prodigious talent. Only two of them really fit the standard (Jin and V) and a third (Jungkook) was cute but only 15 when they debuted and so not really grown into his looks yet. They have received so much hate over their looks they have put mentions of this issue in multiple songs addressing their haters. The ironic part is that when they started to break big in the West, people hating on them here said they must have had a lot of plastic surgery to look that way. 🤦♀ Which - .... 1 - NO 2 - We literally watched them grow up on camera, so, again...NO 3 - They have been working non-stop and there was literally no time for anything like that. 4 - Their company was broke and there is no way they could have funded anything like that. 5 - Surgeons have said that their looks are a natural look that is not really achievable with surgery. 6 - Several of them still don't fit the standards in S Korea, but the standards are starting to change because of them. 7 - And they are all still gorgeous.

@@thesoundcheck666 - He sings this song as part of his Tiny Desk Concert. The live performance is better than the MV.

Dynamite was released to cheer ARMY during covid. All English. It's very professional but not the real BTS, their Korean songs have much more interesting and meaningful lyrics. Try watching Black Swan, Blood Sweat and Tears, On Kinetic Manifesto or Mic Drop (Steve Aoki remix). They haven't "gone their separate ways" they had to take a temporary break because of mandatory military service.
