War Of Hormones is the song but the lyrics are really not anything that needed to be attacked for , I love the song so much and I hope they didn’t stop performing it after all the hate they got because of it

That always confused me. SK are not living in a bubble when it comes to western music, especially rap music. They’re much worse compared to what they rap about vs war of hormone and bts didn’t even degrade women on the song either.
@HadassaMoon144

There seemed to be more pushback due to translations. Ther song depicts a hormonal teenaged boy and his shallow praise of a beautiful woman. There are some lyrics that talk about high heels and her body being perfect and women being a gift to men. So...yeah. it's supposed to be playful and purposefully juvenile. Also there was a phrase "Girls are equations and guys do them"..as the translation when it was a double entender meaning "girls are equations that guys must solve".

I love that song. It's frequently mistranslated and misunderstood , imo. Frankly, the most controversial thing that happens in the video is Tae slapping Jimin's ass and then staring at his hand for like a minute. LMAO I mean, one of the lyrics is, "Women are the greatest gift." 🤷♀️

Let’s be serious… this song was attacked because it’s a banger… this song was a threat at a time when the big 3 couldn’t have that. There were also issues with “boy in luv” and I can honestly see why but that was the mv not the music… but war of hormones would have taken over with the sound, the dance, the visuals… it’s something nobody else was doing the way that they did .. they couldn’t compete with the rap and the energy that this fun and catchy song was bringing. This is literally a song making fun of how weak teenage boys can be when it comes to girls… literally a “war of hormones” and they displayed that so well… everything about this and how they played it up was so fun… they were chaotic and extra and nothing negative .. jhope literally talks about bursting a pimple ffs lol this was a big 3 takedown… change my mind

- The misogyny accusations were mostly connected to War Of Hormone (which is honestly just a fun song about what goes on in the mind of a hormonel teenage boy) and partially also the Boy In Love mv which is supposed to mimic K-dramas from back then. In both cases people either didn't get the sarcasm or they really just wanted something to pin them up on. - V was practically raised by his grandmother because his parents worked away from home so they were very close. The reason he chose to share the information with ARMY was because ARMY had noticed and made concerned comments about his mental state. So he wanted to assure them that he was basically ok but grieving the loss. - I love that Rosan (= XCeleste) chose to redact the names of the groups whose fandoms behaved badly. It's not about them and there's no need to badmouth them to tell BTS's story. I highly respect that. - They're actually still dealing with this kind of BS to this day. There have been several incidents even since this video was made in the summer of 2021.

Well but the fandom thingy wasn't just one sided...it was a fanwar so both fandoms had a play in it. I have talked about it with a fan of the group. They said that the thing with the awards made them mostly angry because they changed the counting System and just told them after while their group got nominated for many categories but didn't win them..MAMA has done much bad stuff like the thing with BP and much more. Mostly beef with YGE. I am not saying their fandom is innocent but that ARMYs aren't all innocent as well. Both fandoms didn't act well at that time. Giving or trying to give each group a Black Ocean and stuff. I am an ARMY but I always need both or the other sides opinion and feeling when it is about an argument... It just doesn't seem right not listening to the other sides. I hope you understand :) We basically all know the group and fandom. The intended hatred came from SME just the same as INFINITE did they became more popular so they just bougth the group they tried the same with BTS. SME is an amazing company with great music. One of my faves roght now is æspa so yeah. Every company has their downside while for most of them it is managment

Other reasons are these companies spend a lots of $ lobbing (similar to Payola) to reporters and media related people. OMG I still have trauma from November 2018. I see that tee shirt and I have visceral memories of being up all night, emailing BigHit's Artist Protection email sending them details of what was happening as it unfolded. We were really terrified that something terrible was going to happen when the guys went yo Japan for promotions. I swear, J-ARMYs are REAL ONES! The thing that Rosann (xCeleste) is kind enough not to mention was that FANS of twi other groups in particular were closely involved in spreading misinformation, rumors, and outright lies to news outlets, and were hyping up and spreading posts from ACTUAL ANTI-KOREAN JAPANESE FASCISTS, all in the name of hating on BTS. It was really awful. The stuff in this video is just a sample of some of the things BTS has been through, and might explain why ARMYs are SO hyoer-protective of them. I'm with you. If I don't enjoy a group, I literally DO NOT CARE about them. I've always thought if antis put HALF the energy into supporting their faves as they did on trying to bring BTS down, imagine how much better a position their group would be in!

You were right about the plagiarism accusations having no real basis.. For instance, the fuss kpop stans made about the school boy concept is ridiculous coz BTS wore school uniforms for a song that was part of the third album in their school trilogy. They just wanted to squash BTS coz they saw them as a threat. So many fandoms ganged up to malign their reputation coz they knew it would be easier to attack them as they didn't have a powerful company behind them. As for "misogyny", it's yet another instance of double standards and hypocrisy.. The song they had an issue with is War of Hormones. And like the song's name, it basically showed how boys fight this war of hormones when a girl catches their eye. It actually seems like a joke on the guys who are trying to win her affections. It was not offensive in way. I thought it seemed like a very honest depiction of puberty and the inexperienced fumblings when faced with a crush. What really frustrates me is that people always hold BTS to some absurd standard of morality that none of their faves have to meet. It's like when enough people get behind a lie, it becomes the truth in public perception.. It was to the point that there are ARMYs who parrot the idea that War of Hormones was controversial. BTS was always a group that wanted to stand up for their generation from the beginning, so to be seen as misogynists must have been really jarring to them.. While it's admirable that RM decided to consult women's studies professor's to screen his lyrics, it certainly wasn't necessary.. These accusations that slammed his character really caused him a lot of distress because he's genuinely a good guy. I remember eAeon tweeted that RM had a long conversation with him about it coz he felt so guilty and wanted to know how to be better. It's messed up that these jobless people just gang up on good people. I see his apology as a testament to his character - even though the accusations were unfair and such a reach, he decided to work on himself so he could grow into a better human. But honestly, there was nothing hurtful in the first place. A hoard of kpop stans decided to jump on a bandwagon to pretend this was some heinous song when it was really such a fun song that we loved. Meanwhile they'd listen to English songs calling women every derogatory word under the sun without batting an eye. Big Hit used to respond quite proactively to criticism and apologize and make amends.. But if you think about it, with growing criticism, what else could a small company do? At the end of the day, even though I believe the criticisms raised by kpop stans was completely disingenuous and hypocritical, I respect RM for his response, and Big Hit too.. I think the way it's astounding how grounded, caring and thoughtful all the members of BTS despite the endless onslaught they've had to deal with throughout their career. People have become completely jaded and cold for much less.. Sorry this became an essay.. But I just wanted to set the record straight.. I've really been enjoying your BTS reactions. You really pay attention and seem quite perceptive.. 💜💜

Thank you. I have said exactly the same things in other reactors comments, and it does become something of an essay. But it's worth taking the time to fully express the truth. And while it may be admirable for Namjoon to consult experts in women's studies to, effectively, give his lyrics that sign off, it is not - nor should it be - necessary. And it saddens me that he feels the need to second guess himself like that; and possibly stifle what he truly wants to say, for fear of 'how it may be perceived'.😓 I also agree that people shouldn't listen to (and watch the MV) and make up their own minds. Because War Of Hormone is a great, fun, honest song about the internal battle puberty brings, and how the way boys that age deal with changing, and surging hormones. And how they start noticing girls in a whole new way. And if we are completely honest, girls do the same thing! We also struggle with the changes going on within us. We start looking at boys (or other girls) in a different way. War Of Hormone could easily be performed by female singers with barely any changes.💜💖 I am a 53 year old woman and I've seen musical styles come and go. I've watched attitudes about gender equality evolve and change. And I've seen how music can both reflect, or ignore those changes. But now I'm watching a generation who seems to be determined to take offense at everything. And yes, I know that opinion will not be popular. But I think it's becoming a problem when a simple truth - that applies to both (or all) genders - gets such a negative response. Truth is Truth, whether we like it or not.😓 Besides War Of Hormone is a fantastic song. Honest, fun, and in no way disrespectful to women. They even say that women are are National Treasure, and should be protected. How is that disrespectful? Simple thing is - I love this song 💜

@@leahwarburton I completely agree with everything you've said here! People are willing to launch a crusade over just about anything these days. As for girls being the same, you're so right.. Just look at the reactions we see when any video or photoshoot is released.. It's such a hypocritical double standard. War of Hormones had some seriously big compliments towards women and somehow that means they hate women??? The logic does not compute at all..

Kpop is all about competition. Unlike the west who really only ‘compete’ when performing at awards shows etc… KPoP groups are always competing against each other from the time of debut. The fans get very protective and some fans will do anything to get their group the spotlight. It is not so much these days but a few of the older groups (2 main groups fanbase in particular ) were hell bent on destroying BTS. Reactors will often say l don’t understand why ARMY don’t support B*********or E**, ARMY and BTS went through hell and l will never forget that time, l now can now wish them a happy life but most ARMY who have been around a while will never follow or support them. New groups like Stray kids and Ateez, TXT and Enhypen are much more likely to get an ARMY’s support these days.( because there is no bad blood between them). Personally l don’t follow Kpop at all, only BTS who l consider now to be more main stream.

Even after being around for nearly 10 years it’s just “in” to openly hate on BTS. It is tough but at the end of the day who cares what people have to say about being into BTS or just kpop in general. There’s always gonna be that hate because people are too ignorant and close minded. As long as people respect the artist even if it isn’t their kind of music then it’s fine because not everyone will like it but there’s no need to put them down and be disrespectful. And that’s what fans want is just the respect. & With stanning multiple groups there’s always gonna be the fans who just want to start fan wars saying so-so is better than so-so. With me if I like the music and them as people then nothing really matters. Plus at the end of the day BTS has accomplished sooo much and I’m so proud so it just makes everything better to see BTS prove everyone wrong doing what they love the most, while being unbothered kings. I loved this reaction and can’t wait to see more from you! 💜💜💜

I really appreciate how you've approached this information. It always makes me a bit nervous when fans of other groups get into the topic of BTS' hardships as they pertain to the industry, since some react defensively as if it somehow invalidates the hard work of other artists - but on the contrary I think that much of what BTS has dealt with is a magnified, extreme example of what many if not all artists in the industry have been affected by on some level/in some way. Of course some artists have benefitted more than others as a side effect of these things, but ultimately it is the media companies and others in positions of power that are using their influence to exploit artists for their own gain. Calling out shady practices and behavior within the industry is not only beneficial for BTS, but for ALL artists that have to navigate that environment. The more BTS' hardships AND triumphs can be recognized, the more hope there is for the artists of the future to be able to break out of the system's control. All of this applies to other music industries as well (the US, for example..) This is a huge reason why the industry doesn't want their success to be recognized. It's empowering for other artists, and that threatens the status quo that keeps them vulnerable to exploitation.

As you said with the comments by the member in that boy group I understand that people want to listen to music in their language - Koreans want that too - I struggle with the fact that the person saying it is making music (or just singing I have no idea who they are) but as an artist how can you not appreciate music in any form another language or not, I think if you’re passionate about music that overcomes language boundaries- it honestly tells me a lot of how much he values his own artistry and makes him seem so ingenuine about his own work

I have been lucky enough to have been ARMY since the beginning and seeing these horrible past issues still hurts. The reason that BTS has such a huge and dedicated following is because they are real - they are not some fake group of guys who can’t stand each other and are only in it for the accolades. The opposite is true - they have never done it for the awards and as time has gone on that pressure to get another award became really hard for them. They have only ever wanted to share their music with us all. They don’t deserve to be pushed into the ground for that. Sadly, sometimes the fan base can be just as toxic to a group as the antis are. There are fans who can see no wrong in the group, but will be openly aggressive towards anyone who so much as says boo about the group. Yes, other fandoms have and are jealous of their success, but it is not all of them. For people like me who are true multi fans, we can see and accept the success of ANY group. BTS have worked incredibly hard to achieve what they have, it was not handed to them on a plate. I am glad you reacted to this - I think that it is an insight that all new ARMY can learn from. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about the boys - they are 7 very talented, sweet, dorky guys who have an incredible bond with not just each other but with all of us as well. I really appreciate how open and honest you are with your reactions. I hope you continue to discover more sides to them. I would recommend maybe watching some Run BTS episodes. This is their own variety show and showcases just how dorky they can get. Look forward to your next reaction. 💜💜🇦🇺

I honestly wish they would have never apologized because they really had nothing to apologize for (there was nothing misogynistic in either War or Hormones or boy with Luv), and it makes everyone think that they really did something wrong or said something crazy about women which is 1000% not the case. At the end of the day the incident help them to grow as Artist and I think helped to inspire better music and make them better human beings.

About the plagiarism claims they were always too baseless and about really common themes and concepts to be actually true. And about the misogynistic lyrics the song is called war of hormone i definitely think you should check it out and make your judgement by yourself (please keep in mind that they were intentionally going for that feel of just a really hormonal teenager with a crush lol which doesn't defend it at all in my opinion it was still a slip but it didn't require that much backlash when other artists get patted on the back for writing actual harmful things )

The "fun" of it is that the discrimination goes up to today and Kim Youngdae (the guy with shorter hair in the interview that stated media is mad BTS don't need them) even talked about it a week ago. Korean media twisted their chapter 2 announcement and started plotting against them by publishing they were breaking up (not even hiatus, which actually isn't, just they aren't churning a new OT7 album for some time -- I guess waiting for the military decision). VMAs news about the girl group was all around, but BTS won Group of the Year for the 4th year in a row, being the group IN HISTORY with more wins and all of them consecutive. K media has been since then silent about an accomplishment of fellow citizens O_o Moreover YT delete BTS related videos at a higher rate, considering ARMY as bots, when it has been proved there are streaming farms for "bigger" (?) artists who get billions in spoti, millions of radio play and so on. At first it could sound a bit of conspiration theories, but really, once you dig in the matter... it all is clear and blatant xD Funny... Anyway, we army are strong as Joon already said.

So War of hormone is the song they are talking about however as a woman i dont find anything wrong with it it is extremely tame in comparison to other artist the song is meant to be about the hormones of a teen boy. if i'm right it was especially about the translations on the MV which were not really correct? (sorry english is not my first language dont know the word for it) in MV often translations are shorter or there are words used to make it flow better however this is sometimes not the litteral translation i reccomend to use doolset (google it it will come up) here are all the translations + explanations voor BTS💜 edit: (i'm only going to talk about this because i see some comments and i get that social media is really toxic but you are actually able to not see most of it ) so you talked about social media. personally i'm the most active on twt i almost never see any hate because i actually curate my tl. i block people even the ones that call them selfs army. often we get a list of these so called armys to block from bigger accounts. these account we block and report are always leavind so much hate commends, are shippers or solo's (basiclly anti's) a lot of the time these account are 'new' so my recomondation is follow the bigger account for voting, streaming, updated etc.. and from there start to follow accounts you like. when you see a comment you dont like (hate etc.. block immediatly so you will never see them on your tl) also dont follow any topics on twt! The only time when i do see it is is when it is big enough for the bigger account to say something about it for exemple a certain fanbase was going to get our personal photos collect them and do edits with them and put them on p*r.n sites. so our army selca day was canceled. this is the most recent i know about that is why i'm using it as a example. so if you are scared to use social media you don't have to be because you can create your own space 💜

Jin before going to his military service said that BTS don't have many friends in 'kpop' because people are afraid of being associated with them' he didn't say why but we understand it's due to other kpop artist companies not wanting their artists to associate with BTS. Most of BTS friends in the music industry are Korean Indie artist and certain western artists.

The kpop is literally dominant by BIG 3 companies, YG, SM, & JYP. They have all the media support & they through money & their power to push their groups. even now. It's true that hybe or the bighit is now the biggest company, recently it was reported BTS networth alone ks bigger than all big 3 companies together, but the problem is BTS Never used good old method to become success. Kmedias, or music shows Never treated BTS properly & still they're only "using" BTS for clout! Even Now Hybe is bigger, the Kmedias never prasied BTS because they didn't ride their backs to be successful! This problem was addressed by a Korean music critic, & he explains everything very well. Also Antis Still use Tae's Grandma to drag him down & they continuously keep bringing it back which is absolutely disgusting! How can a human do that?

Downplaying BTS in Korean medias and music industries are all about the money. BTS didn't go through them, therefore they didn't get any $ and lossing their powers. Also, they are afraid other groups following BTS footsteps in the future. Same things are happening in the western world. Billboards changed policies and the charting system twice since BTS topped the charts many times. They made it harder for BTS to be on top anymore. They made a major count with radio spinning to be on the charts but radio stations will not play BTS songs. Their excuse was it was because BTS sang in Korean. So BTS made English songs in a pop style. They still will not play as much even though there are soooo many requests. Of course it's about Paola too.

11:36 As other people have said, the song is "War of Hormone" and tbh the lyrics are pretty tame compared to other songs i've heard from other artists lol. And I'm a huge feminist irl and I call out misogyny. I only found one lyric that was kinda questionable, but overall, I found the whole song just silly and cringey and meant to represent the awkwardness and cringiness of puberty lol. Regardless, I'm glad they took the matter seriously and here's what I found that differs BTS from other groups I've seen in the past. They acknowledge their mistakes and correct it. A lot of past groups I've seen (I've been into kpop since the 90s lol i'm old hahaha) in the past wouldn't even acknowledge their wrongdoings and would repeat them, while their fans claimed ignorance. I believe in acknowledging your mistakes and educating yourself. Because that's how we can grow as people.

So let me talk about the fanwar. I hope you are ok with me mentioning the fandom and group because we know BTS and ARMY so yeah. The Group is EXO and the fandom EXO-L. The fanwar somewhere started in 2015 or 16. Idk if it started when many fandoms teamed up against EXO in creating a Black Ocean but failling because most of the people there being EXO'Ls or the MAMA moment when they changed the calculating system in that year specifacally. And talking about it after the awards are given. EXO-Ls were angry because EXO Was nominated for ma y Awards and not getting them even if they deserved it. EXO-Ls gave BTS a Black Ocean at the MAMA 2016. So I think it started at the beginning of 2016 with the Black Ocean thingy. I don't blame them. I always need both sides of the story. I spoke with an EXO-L about it as an ARMY. You could say EXO-Ls felt the same as ARMYs did with GRAMMYs

The lyric specifically was in war of hormone. The line, "girls are like homework we just do them." Apparently this was mistranslated and they are actually saying "girls are like homework we have to solve/figure out," but I'm not Korean so I'm not sure lol. Either way if it's the original or the latter, I don't take offence at all. I've heard so much worse in western songs. Plus those lyrics are true to the intent of the song describing young youths crazy hormones and superficial love. So it makes sense and doesn't bother me at all.

I get that frustration but Exo members for sure are friends of BTS members. Big Bang is respected by BTS and the age gap seems to keep them from being friends (also maybe some issues with the association problem considering the unfortunate behaviors and criminal charges against some members). About WOH...so..let me clear the misunderstanding k-popies hv and few Armys hv about this song which was blown out of proportion by h8ters & Antis to create drama that time, which worked cuz k-popies & media latched on it... *This is going to long a$$ comment* Let's be real, War of Hormones wasn't misogynistic. It was just an honest song about what guys in that age range go through. They were straight up saying that they struggle with their hormones when they see a pretty girl, *and guess what? That's just being honest.* 👁️👄👁️ The title itself gives a clear idea to how they see it. A war. An internal conflict. And it's true to what guys in their late teens and early 20s go through. Bangtan has always been about talking about their experiences and being a voice of people their age. The entire album, Dark & Wild, was really just about the turmoils of young adulthood. In the title of the album too, you can already tell what the sentiment was going to be. The first 3 albums spoke about school and issues of teens. And then from there, the darker days of coming to terms with adulthood. And then the HYYH series. Everything was thematic with stories they wanted to tell as they go through life. Antis and fans of other groups were just grasping at straws to find something to shit on and unfortunately the media picked up on it and then some ARMY took it as truth and they themselves started talking as if the song was offensive. It isn't. We need to stop spreading this story as if BTS were misogynistic boys who needed to learn a lesson. Yes, Namjoon has learned a lot from the experience and has gone out of his way to speak to experts in women's studies, but I'm sure that whole ordeal also caused him unnecessary pain. *Now, My personal take on this:* I don't see anything wrong with the lyrics of the song. All boys go through puberty and the things BTS sung in this are just reflective of their experience going through that phase in their lives. This is the reason I love them and their songs.. they didn't hide anything and covered all the feelings/thoughts of a person who is in his/her adolescent...one can see them growing up from then till today…I personally don't find the lyrics offensive and “most” Armys as well..as I agree they are expressing the struggles of dealing with hormonal changes in adolescence, and I'm sorry but sexual attraction is the number one pressing issue in most hormonal teens regardless of gender. There's a couple of issues I take with people who found this offensive. First, the double standard. You can't tell me young women were purely innocent in their thoughts and feelings as they watched these young men dance and sing, they just didn't make a song about it, at least not publicly. Secondly, the entire concept BigHit wanted from BTS is a representation of the youth culture and the issues youth deal with as seen and heard through the lyrics and music of BTS, and of course everyone has or will experience sexual attraction. Yes, they refer to see through clothing and high heels etc, but I've seen hundreds of posts referring to JK's abs, Jimin's body rolls and shoulder "accidents" Tae's tongue...you get the idea, and while many comments aren't necessarily teens it's not a problem. There can only be an issue if the lyrics were implying that I'm only attracted to girls who wear heels and sheer clothing, not sneakers and sweats. Anyone who has experienced adolescence knows however that if they're sexually attracted to someone the person could easily walk around in a potato sack and an adolescent would still be entranced. A lot of people were offended by that line, "Girls are equations and us men just do them". Personally, I took it as "do them" meant they were puzzles to be solved, not a sexual act. RM was honestly shocked that people were offended by the lyrics and that they could be considered misogynistic. It was definitely a learning experience for him. He apologized and has since run his lyrics through a few professionals in women's studies before releasing a new song. They don't really release songs like this any more. *But to that a korean Army said translation in English were a bit off, which lead to misunderstandings and explained it saying : “I was kinda surprised it's translation was "do" because that part "do them" CAN actually sound offensive to some people, because the meaning of that word 'do' is not clear. However I can clearly say that it's not meant that way, and Korean version lyrics tell that. Words are more specific, and not controversial in Korean version lyrics, because it doesn't say 'do. That part in Korean is 여자들은 방정식 우리 남자들은 해 which says we men are 해 is a word for mathematics, and it means the 'answer/the final number'. So it means they solve. the complex minds of the girls. 해 DOES have the meaning of 'do' too, but its not appropriate to translate this part of the lyrics that way, because if u say it means "do them, it doesn't fit the sentence there. Since there's no Objectives for that Verb 'do' and that's... kinda awkward. plus. the context and meaning of the whole sentence is talking abt mathematics and Equations so what u said is true. It doesn't mean sexual way”* it's freaking mistranslation, if you don't belive me ask any korean, not only k-army but any Korean.. it was done to sabotage BTS's career..💀 BTS hv made few mistakes unknowingly early in their career and said things which can be considered offensive, as they were young but they hv re-educated themselves, apologized and never repeated the mistakes again..but I hv seen many k-popies and so called Multi Armys twisting many things because of that..take for example this song.. it's blown out of the proportion just to cause drama..and they were sadly successful in that..haters/antis tried every lil thing to bring BTS down & sabotage their career ngl..

Thank you. I have said the exact same thing, about War of Hormone, in multiple reactors comments sections. So I am not going to repeat myself - or you - by saying it again. I will just say that, I honestly don't understand how anyone can misunderstand the lyrics of War of Hormone - unless they were trying to. It is clear that when they are talking about solving the equation that is girls/women.💜 And yes, girls go through the same thing. We hit puberty, and start looking at boys in a different way than we did before. And yes, the numerous comments about the boys, makes the whole argument hypocritical. Plus, it shows that people haven't listened to the whole song when they get fixated on a single line. After all, in War of Hormone, they also say that women are a National Treasure and should be protected. How is that misogynistic?😓💜 War of Hormone is an honest look at the changes that come with puberty (that we all go through), presented in a fun way. It is not, repeat NOT, Misogynistic. What it IS, is a wonderful song that is well worth listening to/and watching the MV. I love the song, and have never been offended by it. I AM offended by those who complain that it's offensive, misogynistic, or in any way denigrates women. Because it isn't, and it doesn't.💜 Sorry, I didn't mean to go on. But just thinking about it gets me really annoyed. I love the song, and I just hope people listen to it, and judge it for themselves. Because it's a great song.💜
