You have to appreciate a man who can put together a show where not a single musician on the stage isn't having the time of their lives. Nobody be havin' fun like older musicians making something like nothing you've ever heard before while simultaneously exactly like everything nostalgic from 50 years ago.

it looks like that (probably in their contract to smile) but most of the band is stuck in repetitive motion to lay down the backing for Takanaka. Jam bands have the musicians interact with each other and develop the song in that moment.

Seeing happy middle-aged Japanese people with glowsticks cheering politely at a concert of some strange Samba/Japanese musical hybrid group is such a life motivator. Honestly, long gone are the days of smoking pot but out of all the times I would have loved to smoke up and experience something live. This would have been it. What a cozy vibe.

when the song started, I started crying immediately. That was my older cousin's fav and when I was a kid I live in his apartment during summer time I always hear this song. He played games with me and brought me to play basketball. He died 2007, cerebral hemorrhage caused by falling from stairs when he was 26 years old, and now Im 32. The rhythm of an endless loop

I did some research and I was able to find credits for some of the other musicians. Drums: Masahiro Miyazaki (8:37) Percussion: Nobu Saito (8:58) Bass: Hideki Matsubara (8:15) Keyboards: Hiroyuki Namba (9:21), Makoto Aoyagi (7:46) Some of them still perform with Takanaka, or at least they have in recent shows. @@cultus_diabolus Lmao it happens in Japan too. I’ve been to a few shows where people go absolutely crazy and try to get on stage, that’s just the way things are. Jazz and jazz fusion shows usually have more mellow crowds, both in the US and in Japan.

am i the only one who feels extremely sad when i listen to the synth? like it exudes melancholy. it makes me want to cry. it is just a lot of feelings and thoughts rushing through my head at once when it plays. it's so terribly beautiful.

That's the thing about samba, it's a melancholic happiness. The genre from which samba originated is called chorinho which means little cry.

Keyboardists rarely play a single keyboard. Here he has an organ and two synths.

Não tem o que dizer, esse vídeo é simplesmente lendário! Esse Masayoshi deve ser muito apaixonado pela cultura brasileira, até um álbum com nome brasileiro ele fez(Brasilian Skies).. O cara é simplesmente genial, além de tocar muita guitarra, suas músicas são todas alegres e contagiantes. Ele merece ser mais reconhecido pelos brasileiros, porque no japão o cara é uma lenda! Vale a pena conferir o trabalho dele!
