42 year old Blue collar roughneck here. Been working labor since I was 16 years old. Still to this day it's hard to wake up when that alarm goes off and it always comes too soon, but it's not about us. It's for family, a sacrifice, because we can take it, so our family doesnt have to. Great song.

Roughnecked 30 years. Worked with hundreds of men in that time. Greatest guys you could ever meet. It touched me to my core when that hand got a text from his wife saying she couldn't do it any more. Of all the different men I have known and worked with I can only count about 5 to maybe 10 whose wives didn't end up divorcing them, including my own. Many lose everything that mattered to them, some even their lives.

I’m oilfield trash by birth. My dad was a petroleum engineer for Phillips for forty years, went all over the world for his job. We lived in Odessa, TX most of the time, go MOJO. Moved to Santa Barbara for three years in late sixties, man they hated us there and still do. Well the feeling is mutual I guarantee. Been out on many rig sights as a kid even on a few offshore rigs, what a life these men have, hard working and not afraid of it. Dad grew up on a farm in West Virginia, had an oil well in his backyard. Oil culture gets in your blood, and never leaves. Proud of my roots, and will always be. Oh, and love the smell of the oilfield, Yeehaa
