Thanks for the review! I love my podpoi and I've been curious about getting programmable poi. I think these might be the best "first pair" to try out, given the price point.

One note that someone just flagged for me: in doing my prep for this review I missed that the poi are offered at multiple price tiers and that to get the training data on the app you have to purchase the $299 option. Sorry for the confusion and I'll post a note about it in the review itself!

Hi drex , i'm looking for a pair of LED poi and this video have 2 years old, and i was wonder if the 3D factor was actually an issue by this time, I don't know if i should get an izopoi, vortex, bubble or the clasical podpoi, the only LED poi that i have seen live is the pod poi so i'm scared of missing the right choice By the way You sell me My firsy pair of contact poi like 10 years ago, and thanks for that :)

The footage looks touched up I’m not dissing though I wish I could see for myself cause it could be real but I’m just a skeptic if it is real then those are unreal. I’m cool with the pod poi v2 though. The digital ones are dope though cause you can even just do simple spins and the designs are entertaining enough to draw a crowd
@DrexFactor
4 жыл бұрын
That would be because it is touched up. Unfortunately your eyes and digital cameras don't really perceive light in the same way, so though you would see the trails of these poi when viewing them in person a digital camera won't because it lacks the persistence of vision effect that your brain is capable of. If you want to see the untreated footage, it is available here, but I would caution that it is every bit as misleading as you believe the touched up footage to be: kzitem.info/news/bejne/23eQr4eJgHN0omU

I wish you would’ve dove more deep into a couple different factors one being programming, are they as customizable as previous ignis poi or are the possibilities limited when it comes to uploading your own images. Two being how is the rope attached to the handle and ball itself is it replaceable and what thickness’s are accepted.

Hi @Drex please check this comment when looking at the Ignis bubble poi
@DrexFactor

Originally the review did include more info on all this but it had to be cut for time (I post these video cross-platform and IGTV has a 15-minute time cap). So short answer is yes they are as customizable as other Ignis poi. You can upload your own images (at least on the Android app, this isn't enabled yet on the iOS app) and the timeline editor is much like it is on the desktop Ignis App, that is you select an image and select how long you want it to display for in seconds and the whole program then automatically loops when you set it going. The rope is attached to the ball via a couple of bearings and can be removed to convert these into contact juggling balls. The rope is absolutely replaceable but the point where it enters the ball is small enough that you might have difficulties swapping out for a thicker rope.

If you’re interested in contact poi I’d check out ultra poi for a cheaper LED option. Of course if you don’t mind spending go for bubble poi. If you’re interested in spinning flower patterns and body tracing work, I’d go with podpoi

Also, the website says that the 199.00 "basic" version does not have the training statistics available, nor does it have the swivels inside, and it has a different cord ("Black braided nylon cord 7mm"). It is the "smart" version, which costs 299.00 that has the white rope and training statistics and swivels. According to the website, at least. Is this true or is the website info incorrect?
@IgnisPixel

Yes, website is correct, this review was made with Ultimate version. Almost all features in this review like training statistics and image stabilization are also valid for Smart version.

I'm curious to see how the more expensive ones work the 399 ones are they any better or just as good as the 199 version 🤔
@DrexFactor
4 жыл бұрын
Near as I can tell the more expensive versions include a more wear-resistant bearing and something having to do with image stabilization that I can't understand from the written description. I'm not sure how substantive or noticeable these differences are but I would guess the less expensive versions will definitely get it done.

My suggestion for the poi image limit is an "active block" and a "bank". The active block being the images that can fit in the poi memory and the bank being readily available images to set the active block.
@BartyTheParty

That's exactly what I was thinking!
@DrexFactor
4 жыл бұрын
That could be, but the interface is exactly the same when you upload one that is in the bottom 32 slots vs not and any image that is uploaded in the first 32 slots can be seen to be dropped into one of those slots available via button press. I guess if this is indeed the case I wish the difference were more intuitive because not being able to access an image manually wound up being a problem in putting this review together and meant it took longer to complete.
@IgnisPixel

We intentionally limited the reach to pictures above 32 using button because of 3 reasons: 1. Most people use Sequent or Random timelines and almost never launch single pictures from button. 2. It's takes quite a long time and quite boring to reach say picture #115 by clicking and holding one button. 3. We didn't find good idea how to make user-friendly menu for 126 pictures on 16-LEDs row, row without digits. If you have any ideas please share. So if you still think it is really necessary to get access to all single pictures from button then it's easy to implement after we find acceptable solution for menu. Let's discuss it
@DrexFactor
4 жыл бұрын
@@IgnisPixel I actually agree that a person probably doesn't need 126 images on the poi and that the use case for bringing up an individual image is very limited. My suggestion would actually be to then only have 32 slots available on the app. Once you click on any one image you've got access to the full 126 image library but having 126 slots available in the app while there are technically only 32 slots accessible manually on the poi is a little confusing.
@IgnisPixel
4 жыл бұрын
DrexFactor Memory capacity in the BubblePoi is enough for 126 pics and if we limit it to 32 slots in the device then set of pictures would be too poor and in sequent/random timelines same pictures would be shown 4 times more frequently that becomes quite boring during regular poi usage while there are so many colorful images🙂 Actually we plan to optimize memory usage for user could upload up to ~500 pictures. Or to delete all unnecessary pictures and leave as many pictures as he need.
